I suddenly thought of Dim Sum and remembered that I have yet to post on A Little Dim Sum Place Restaurant in SS2 (especially after accumulating some pics from several visits). I used to eat at this place when it was still in Desa Sri Hartamas and I enjoyed the dim sum back then. Then it was gone and left me wondering where it went to. So, it was a pleasant surprise to see it re-open in SS2 (it's been a year or two) and being so near to me :o).
So, here are some of the dim sum items available from the menu. Prices are slightly higher as compared to the normal dim sum coffeeshops as the ambiance is better and the place is cleaner and one is not subjected to the Malaysian heat while eating dim sum along the five foot way as this place is air conditioned.
Banana Mango Prawn Fritter - I didn't quite like the combo here but did like the thin skin surrounding the filling.
King Siew Mai - Topped with a big prawn, this is a must for Siew Mai (one variety of open face dumplings) lovers.
Avocado Katafil - Nice and just sweet enough for me. I like the crispy threads.
One of my fave - Sunshine Bao. When served steaming hot, the mixture of custard and egg yolk cream will ooze out if one attempts to take a bite or a pinch. Best eaten after letting it stand for about 5 minutes.
The Mango Tong Yuen - The skin is too thick and the mango puree is not authentic enough for me. Needs to be improved on.
I like the Glutinous Rice here. This Lo Mai Kai is tasty, the meats are tender and the glutinous rice well cooked (I don't fancy biting into bits of uncooked glutinous rice grains).
Lily Scallop Roll - I ordered this as the name made me curious. However, I found this mixture of vegetable, prawn and scallop very bland.
Bacon Roll - This was okay to me but pork lovers would probably love it.
The Fried Radish Cake here is one of the better ones I've tasted. Fried together with chives, beansprouts, egg and bits of choy po (pickled diced daikon), this is one dish that is a must order here.
And lastly, the Char Siew Bao. I like the softness of the bao and the filling of the BBQ pork meat is tasty, making this one of my faves too.
Frankly, the dim sum here tasted even better when it was located in Desa Sri Hartamas. However, there are still some goodies here (after all, I have been going back to this place) as long as one knows what to order.

Hope you had fun in Penang. Couldn't go to KL this time plus the trip was short and hectic, most of all, it kinda sucked because of the non-stop raining for 10 days straight...
Me curious about the avocado katafil. Is the avocado sweet or the crispy threads? What do you think the threads are made of? Vermecelli?
Alamak, wrong time to come. It's nearly bedtime and looking at this, I feel like 'siu yeh'. I have to go to bed with half empty stomach thinking of your dimsum! :( I want to go here too, WMW!!! Wahahahaha
Long long time i have not been to this place for dimsum ever since I discovered Hong Kee.
Wow...this dim sum place serves pretty different dim sum!
Lily scallop and avocado kaffil seems unique!
Banana mango doesn't sound to go well with prawn:p
The sunshine bao looks yummy! Must try. Been awhile since I went there.

Here no dimsum!! I miss dimsum!!!
we are going to make a guess , dim sum is yr top food. only a small beer for the right answer ok !
yeah yeah, i agree .. some hit and some misses. their dimsum use to be much better but had slacked off though their whole concept is pretty much commendable still.
"Ah Wong" Tong Yuen also have ar? I passed by this dim sum place many times already, but never try their dim sum yet. Soon i will go there for Siew Mai King and Char Siew Bao.Oh yeah, and the most special "Sunshine Bao".
now I feel like eating dim sum!!! Too bad abt the tong yuen as it was so unusual.
RM : Tried calling you but couldn't get you. No worries, hope to catch you in KL some other time soon :o)
wonda : The avocado filling is sweet. Mmm...they seem like thick vermicelli, not ordinary ones.
judy : I'm gonna faint when you show me your list of where you want to eat next time. LOL!
precious P : Maybe it's time we revisit this place soon???
christy : Yeah, different but some hits, some misses though...
Lyrical Lemongrass : Yum, the Sunshine Bao...I'm hungry now...:o)
joe : And you know what to do since you're threading on some floggers' playground right? Hahaha...
meiyen : Yes, do take note of what is good and give it a try!
anonymous : Thanks...
kat : No dim sum but lots of different type of goodies there wor...Eh, can see ah? You want me to send them to you via email???
team bsg : You sure you mean small beer or small beer barrel? LOL...
foodie lianne : Uh huh...let's hope they will improve.
ekeng : Oh yes, do give the Sunshine Bao a try. You'll like it if you like custard and salted egg yolk!
boo : Only one word then...WHEN??? Hahaha...
Noted ! will look into those Dim Sum lol!
the sun shine bao roxx..hehe the owner of little dim sum place will soon drop u a comment, trust me
wow...i love it! i can hardly find those desserts in Ipoh dimsum shop here! Yummy...I hope to try the mango "tong yun". can u 'da bao' for me next time u come for visit in Ipoh?? hehe...
bbo : Yes, don't forget the Sunshine Bao especially.
kampungboycitygal: Huh? Really ah?...
jacelyn: Aiyah...fair lo, cos Ipoh got a lot of good food can't find here in KL/PJ also mah? The tong yuen wasn't that good, wait till they improve.
jackson : Sure...WHEN???
So the owner of A Little Dim Sum Place will now make a comment. Although a little late. Thanks for all your compliments. We worked on the mango tong yuen a lot and been making improvements. The skin needs to be this thick to hold the mango puree since the whole tong yuen will expand while its being cooked, if the skin to too thin, it will break. Will work on the mango puree filling. I have to tell you that there is a lot of mango in there but since its hot, somehow the mango taste doesnt come out.
Hope to see your all soon and hear more comments for improvement.
