Hitting Lot 10 Hutong On An Empty Stomach - Pt Two (Final)

(NON-HALAL)

Hahaha...some folks asked whether I ate up the whole of Hutong since I posted Part One. As much as I would like to, I couldn't possibly accomplish such a feat - even after I ate at Hutong over several occasions. So, let's continue with the other food I've tried ...

Soong Kee Beef Noodles
Soong Kee Beef Noodles

Soong Kee Beef Noodles

Beef Balls & Vegetables
Set of noodles with minced pork with a bowl of beef balls and oyster sauce vegetables (RM7.50). The fare here passed the yummy test, pretty much the same as the original downtown.

Kong Tai
Kong Tai, dishing out Singapore fare

Singapore Prawn Mee
I had ordered this as I found out that they had bits of chu yau char (crispy lard) in the Singapore Hokkien Prawn Mee (RM7.90). When I was first handed this dish, I must say that I didn't think much of it as it looked pale and plain. However, much to my pleasant surprise, it tasted way better than it looked. It had wok hei and was fragrant, I quite enjoyed it :o)

Campbell Popiah
The elusive Campbell Popiah

Campbell Popiah
Dropping by after peak hours...this stall was closed twice after everything was sold out when I was there. I was delighted that they were still opened on my third attempt.

Campbell Popiah
At RM5.40 for two egg skin popiah, these two rolls failed to impress me or maybe it was because I had set my expectations too high. It tasted rather bland to me ... but hey, looks like it could be just me though as they have a roaring business here and have been doing this for the past 40 years..

Berrylicious
More desserts from Berrylicious ...

Berrylicious Ice Kacang
Ice Kacang from Berrylicious @ RM4.50. Not too bad but the Mango Snowy Dessert from Iceroom is better. However, do note that the Ice Kacang from Berrylicious is almost half the price cheaper.

Duck King
I walked around to take pics of the place .... Here's a shot of Duck King's station

Ho Weng Kee
Ho Weng Kee ... famous wantan noodles that I didn't try ... yet

Hutong Colours
It was a bit confusing walking around the "maze" of stalls but once you get use to it and the colours, you'll realise that it's quite a pretty place.

Stargazing on the rooftop
If you then want to walk off some of those calories piled on earlier ... one can always adjourn to the Rooftop and do a bit of stargazing like these statues.

As I mentioned...Hutong has a showcase of Hits and Misses. So, go there and pick wisely as some are worth it while some will disappoint, be prepared. Well, all these food under one roof is definitely a big plus for patrons - the main lure of Hutong is in its variety. If not, most folks would probably go to the original stalls at their respective locations all over Klang Valley (and Singapore) to savour the best of the best indeed. Which is why, I would still be going back to Hutong, especially if I have friends visiting from abroad.
