I had previously blogged a bit about Tua Huat but didn't take more photos as I was using a toy camera back then. They specialise in Ulu Yam Loh Mee and also Yam and Pork Rib noodles. However of late, I have been eating more of their stewed pork vermicelli (bee hoon). I had gone there recently when my friend, Lawrence, from the States requested for it as he said he can't find such noodles back there.
This is now a favourite of most of my friends that I bring to this place. We all love this deliciously sinful noodle!
Another regular order is their fried rice. Done with bits of lap cheong (waxed meat) apart from the other usual ingredients, it's good too; simple yet tasty.
The other item we normally order is the Parang Fish Cake, nice and springy-it goes well with the fried rice!
Now, it's time for me to get some sleep and hopefully I can get my timing reset to Malaysian time. As much as I had enjoyed my Spain trip, there's no place like home!
I miss my bed, but most of all - I miss blogging! - wmw
Welcome back! Ah, this place. I've read they serve Ulu Yam's famous Loh Meen but not tried it at all. Must do so and compare it with the real stuff we sampled in Ulu Yam. That stewed beehoon looks good.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Good to hear from you again. You travel alot. No need to work one? There is nothing like home. Strange though, when I stayed 2 weeks in Malaysia and have eaten what I wanted to eat, I crave Japanese food. Malaysian food has become too oily or spicy for me.
ReplyDeleteWonda
Welcome back..! can't wait to see your adventures .. in Spain..!
ReplyDeleteWell it's about time, girl! We've missed ya!! Stewed pork vermicelli is soooo sinful la (but I still like it anyway...heehee).

ReplyDeletewelcome back...so fast hor time passes.
ReplyDeletenext time u take food photos, bring a touch light... the light will make the food look more delicious... try this technique and compare the results ok..
ReplyDeleteboo_licious : Feels good to be back. Do try it...I had the one in Ulu Yam itself many years ago. Have forgotten how it was.
ReplyDeletewonda : This was a co. incentive trip. A group of us extended another week on our own covering the coastal line of Spain. We work according to our own schedule so, don't need to have our leave approved. We approve our own leave! Ha ha....
mama bok : Hang in there..."akan datang"
lyrical lemongrass : I've miss all of you too! Where else can you find good stewed pork vermicelli??
precious pea : Wait ah....be patient ;o)
fbb : Yup, time sure flies. Carpe diem! Bake when you want to bake! :o)
wow2 : Torch light you mean? I don't want to attract more attention by holding a torch light and camera, unless got assistant! Ha ha...I should use the light from SE's flash light.
Hey! Back and refreshed from enjoying Spanish air?? So fun!!
ReplyDeleteThis stewed pork beehoon - does it used those canned stewed pork ah? I've heard that it tastes out of this world!
Is this place same row as Nanking Vege Rest?
wmw,
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! And you almost never fail to make me crave for the food back in Malaysia. It's 12a.m. now and I was just back from Uni! I'm hungry just because of your food post! haha! Anyway, I won't have any supper. No time to do so. Going to sleep now. Looking forward for your Spain's post! Should be lots of churches. My dad told me that after his trip to Spain few months back. :)
weee! tai kar che is back! LOL! can't wait for your pictures from Spain.
ReplyDeleteI see the big piece of "fei chu yoke"... so tempting to bite the screen.
hope you finally caught up with some sleep with your jet lag..n thanks alot for coming into my blog..spain must have been heaps of fun to keep you awake for so long hehe..some awesome pictures you have here..
ReplyDeletewmw ar, I've tasted really great stewed pork vermicelli at a makan place in the Batu Caves area. Wait ar...I blog about it one day. :-)
ReplyDeleteJust glad to know you're back and back in business, the business of blogging, I mean. I'm sure you had a great time in Spain and can't wait to hear all about it! :)
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, I'm developing a craving for hot (panas-panas, not spicy --- I always love spicy, hehe) foods these days cos of the rainy weather. Brrrr.....
V request at least one full delicious spread post on dark sunny Spanish girls' only,
ReplyDelete4 all yr overdue admiring male

ReplyDeletekat : I don't think so...I've actually tried cooking the vermicelli with the canned ones. The meat is thinner and smaller and falls apart easily. The ones here at Tua Huat are bigger slices and have more oomph! Yes, it's the same row as Nanking....I forgot about it (brain not functioning from the jet lag). Will add that in the directions. Thanks.
ReplyDeletekok : Yup, lots of beautiful churches in Spain. Gaudi's Sagrada Familia in Barcelona was out of this world!
teckiee : Hey little sis! Yeah, wait for me to get the pics sorted out first. Meanwhile, go find something to bite into for real. hee hee...
someone who's constantly craving : Can I address you next time as someone??? :o) Mmm...are you a fan of K.D. Lang (her hit song Constant Craving)? Spain was great but there's no place like home. Thanks for the compliment.
lyrical lemongrass : Oh yeah, I have eaten one at Batu Caves before. Dunno whether it's the same one. They also have the kung po "har ko" (mantis prawn) which I like and frog porridge (which I don't eat). I find the noodle at Sec 19 better than Batu Caves, try it at both places and let me know your verdict.
kenny : Thanks for the welcome! I just satisfied my craving for Char Kway Teow last night...still missing Malaysian food, all sorts! Hey, read that you live in SS2 too unless I made a mistake?
team bsg : Ha ha ha...Sadly most of my shots are without "flash"! But the flesh industry there is big business, they are already out on the streets and soliciting at around 5 p.m.!!!!!
tummythoz : Go try the noodles and do a review. Flamenco? Wait ah....
jason : Thanks...mee hoon looks good and tastes good as well!
i always miss msian food when travelling! guess i suffered the most when studying @ aussie.
ReplyDeleteYes, I live in SS2. You too? Wow, we should meet up one day for a bloggers makan-makan lah...
ReplyDeletewah. u must really miss blogging and visiting food blogs :-)
ReplyDeletewelcome back wmw!
xiu long bao : When you were in Aussieland that was for quite a while, must have been hard for you! For me, two weeks in Spain it's enough. However, being in the States isn't as bad.
ReplyDeleteKenny : Ha ha...we'll do a crossover...litfood bloggers meet!
keropok man : Yes, miss blogging...but now missing sleep! :o)
That sounds great! :)
ReplyDeleteI'll email you my contacts, maybe we can gather some other bloggers too?
Kenny : This might have to be in May or June as April is full for me. Lotsa of work to catch up on and peppered with 8 days of training to attend. Sigh...
ReplyDeletewelcome back girl!!! will chat with you later!!
ReplyDeleteHey Mrs Pitt....yeah, hope to catch up with you soon.
ReplyDeletewahh...the yam & pork noodles look like by-product of a triple-bypass! make sure that mr lawrence don't get too eager this year's trip:)
