Vintry, Medan Damansara

(Non-Halal Post)

I found out about this place from JC who loves drinking wine and good food (in that order!). So, when I'm out with her and the gang, we usually end up here to chill. Located along the same row as Kah Soh and The Rib Shop (the row behind Victoria Station and Jake's), we also love eating here as Vintry allows their patrons to order food from the neighbouring eateries.

Entering Vintry, the place has a cosy setting with wines aplenty on display.

We haven't really tried a lot of the food available from here and the rest of the restaurants as we usually order three of our usual must haves when we dine and wine here. From Kah Soh, we'll order the Fish Head Noodles for sure. I'm not a fan of fish but will eat Kah Soh's version as the order comes with crispy pork lard! Ha ha ha....

As for the other two dishes which are from Vintry, BEWARE...they are equally sinful and once you start, you can't stop. Well, till there's nothing left on the plate I suppose and that's when we get hit with a tinge of sadness! :o(

Deep Fried Pork Strips - served with Thousand Island sauce. What I like about these is that they are thin strips, hence well marinated with lam yue (fermented bean curd) and covered well with batter. They are really tasty and very addictive! A plate of these beauties only cost RM8 (USD2.50). At times, we'll order a second plate!

The wonderful roast pork, RM14 (USD4). See that thick layer of skin? It's crispy to the bite and the meat is tender. Served in dainty cuts, (which I prefer) it is so palatable. Vintry is my No. 1 stop for roast pork. There is also the caramelised version, but then the skin is not as crispy.

To top it all off, a bottle of red wine....You can't go wrong ordering these few dishes here in Vintry. We aren't adventurous when dining here as we can eat these dishes time and time again and still want more! LOL...We always leave this place happy not because we are intoxicated by the wine, but intoxicated by the good food!

  6. Precious P : Call for reservations first...quick, go try....two thumbs up!

Lyrical L : If you do, you better call first to make sure you get a table and your name branded on the roast pork! LOL...

Jason : It's not poshy as per say, just because there's wine drinking it's deem to be. But those food goes well with wine, of course there're other Western stuff available.

Joe : Yeah...with the food here, I think you'll go from a beer drinker to a wine lover instead!

Mrs Pitt : Dirt cheap (for you in USD) to die in such a glorious way hor? Ha ha ha...Will the wine help in unclogging it??? :o) But seriously...you have to try it when you come back for a visit.

  7. I love eating at restaurants that has rows of wine on display, especially at a vineyard. Such a nice environment to enjoy semi hawker food. I would definitely eat fish head noodles and a couple of pieces of the crispy lard.

How is the pricing for wine in Malaysia? We have wines here as cheap as US$2.99 a bottle. My husband and I drink a glass of either Charles Shaw's Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon each night.

  15. Lee Ping : Yeahm, these food are lovely, overshadow the wine, haha. Wines in Malaysia? We have the cheap ones too but not dollar for dollar (can't get wine here for RM2.99!), probably after conversion to RM. Everynight? No wonder you always have
    a "happy wall"! LOL...

Meiyen : Never get round to trying that as I only eat these! But I'm no t a fan of blue cheese anyway ;o) Did you try my fave dishes?

kok : Yes, it's really wonderful "finger licking" good food!

judy : Actually, the pork fat is not that much (in the roast pork), the section just after the crispy skin is pure meat. But the meat is tender and moist! That's why it's so lovely.

tigerfish : For good cooks like you all, "Cook It If You Can't Get It"... :o)

sugar&spice : But since I'm not a wine lover, the food comes first and wine comes second.

sc: Yeah...Let's check our calendar whether we ate it on the same day too! Ha ha ha...

kampungboycitygal : Ooooohhhh... Hahaha! You mean you sat right at the back of the place near the door or you didn't manage to eat/drink there?

  23. Hi, i was recommended to this restaurant which i intend to try soon. Do they serve other drinks (non-alcohol) or skyjuice? I like the food but I don't take alcohol.

  24. I just went there the other night for an anniversary. *Most* of the food was nice but some were sad attempts (eg. the baked eggs which was badly burnt on the top). The house wine's nice, but funny how you can't order them "ala-carte" by glass (most places like this would have *a few* types of wine and not one or two.) But the worst bit I felt was the service :( We went in, was ushered to our seats, made to wait 15mins for the menu, made to wait 10mins to order, and a full hour before our food (and those horrid baked eggs) came.

It's got so much ambience, which is why it's a pity that their service was so bad :(
