You can't miss the big signage!
Rows of pretty shell pastry puffs
The fish puff - with Otak-otak filling. They call this the Crispy Otah Puff. I didn't quite like the taste of it as I am not really a fan of fish in the first place. But the filling is generous I must say. At that price, it better be :o)
The A1 1A Puff - This is my favourite among the three, Crispy Crab Chilli Chicken Puff. It's spicy sweet and goes well with the taste of the shell pastry. When I was there, this was one variety that sold out first! Again, filling is generous with a mixture of potatoes and meat. It was delicious and I finished this up in quicktime!
The Sweet Puff - The Crispy Sweet Corn Puff was average but this could be due to the fact that I only ate this after devouring the Crispy Crab Chilli Chicken Puff. It's like asking me to take a bite of wagyu beef cheeks and then a bite of some chicken chop right after that.
The shy puff!

ReplyDeleteI cant stand the sweet corn ... I dont like all the sweet stuffing at all. The yam one lagi gelak. The spicy and salty ones are more to my taste. Love the flakey pastry.

Wow!!!! I never know it can be so many variety.... wow... looks good and tempting...
ReplyDeleteEh, courier just 1 to me la!!! pls pls pls... ;)
I wonder if I have tried 1A in Singapore but there are so many different brands now.
ReplyDeleteI always like a savory curry puff...sweet curry puffs are just puffs...no curry. :(
1A wasn't that popular in Singapore.. during the time i was there. I guess they have added quite a few varieties eh.. :) I love old chang kee's one.. ;) but am gonna try these too.. when i come home. :)
ReplyDeletei've only tried the normal one as someone got for us. din know they've got so many varieties. yeah like joe said, they have one outlet at Tesco Extra Taman Midah Cheras
ReplyDeleteJudy:That's RM2.60. Hahaha, a lot of food in your KL list! Wii Boxing also not effective! :op
ReplyDeletewonda : Cos don't have in Penang yet mah. Started from Singapore and now in Klang Valley.
Precious Pea : Yah mah...that's the best way to use an analogy comparison.
daphne : Like most staying elsewhere, have a food list ready! How long do you plan to be in KL? 5kg? Never mind the heat will give you a good workout! ;o)
jason : Yeah, don't forget to try the next time you're at that Monorail stop.
chenboon : These "curry puffs" are different. Give it a try, especially the savoury ones (in my opinion).
joe : Eat once in a while okaylo...The meals you eat can buy thousands of 1A puffs wor. LOL!
meiyen : Yeah, see whether you like the savoury or sweet ones.
ReplyDeleteteckiee : Me too, I prefer the savoury ones. I think you meant jelak and not gelak? The yam puff makes you laugh ah??? ;o)
nkotb : You know what? I might be going to Penang soon. You might just have what you wish for! Hand delivered by me!
tigerfish : There's durian puff here too! :oD
jackson : Eee...fish, I don't like!
(tigerfish, nevermind!)
mama bok : The Old Chang Kee's version sold here aren't good. I was disappointed!
babe_kl : It's time to pay them a visit to explore more... :o)

tummythoz : Hey! Good to see you around. Mmmm...yah, go try!
did u go all the way there to get curry puffs? Lol!
ReplyDeleteI love the shells, looks really flaky...otak otak in the puff does sound weird.
ReplyDeleteThose layers in the pastries are just simply amazing. And now I'm really curious about how otak otak would taste in a pastry...
ReplyDeleteHi Ginger, you must have been mistaken. I am from Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. It's easy for me to go grab the puffs. Thanks for dropping a note, see you around.
ReplyDeleteRM : Yes, I really like the pastry here. Well, the otah puff is weird to me too but like I said, 'cos I don't like fish! :)
wandering chopsticks : Wander no more! You can try making them since you have cooking skills! Or maybe you can contact 1A for a franchise in your neighbourhood... :o) Easier than cooking yourself, hehe...
They have opened an outlet at the new Tesco in Cheras too. They were giving out free curry puffs during their launch. ;-)
ReplyDeletetankiasu : I didn't try the curry version. Was it good?
ReplyDeleteI tried this when i went for my training last week at Damansara Utama! My friend recommended me saying that this shop selling variety of puff, which is not only curry puff. I went and tried. It really taste good although it is quite pricey for me (RM2.60 can have a bowl of wan tan mee in melaka, LOL). I tried the crispy crab chili chicken curry puff and it was really nice. I bought another two back home for hubby, one is durian filling one another one is the black pepper one. The durian filling one was so fragrant. Hubby said the durian one was really really nice!!
ReplyDeleteI will definitely visit this shop again in my next training!!!
