I'm off to Ipoh for a one day Makan trip! Stay tune for more foodiescapades...
Hmmm...what shall I eat? ;o) One thing for sure, I'll definitely be eating my usual chee cheong fun from this place. Here's an excerpt from an old post dated Nov 23, 2006.
This is where Czar gets her usual fix for her fave Chee Cheong Fun. Tai Kar Cheh has boycotted this guy as she says he's pretty rude, especially when there are lots of customers. He did seemed pretty quiet to me, not rude but serious looking. But he did recognise Czar as one of his regulars as she would pack about 8 packets back for her family each time she visits Ipoh.
The chee cheong fun was served on a metal plate (plus point for me) and was lovely. Served with pickled green chilli, it was a good breakfast. Anyway, we left the place with Tai Kar Cheh still vowing to boycott his stall (she ate noodles while the two of us had the yummy Chee Cheong Fun!).
P.S. Jason, thanks for the list! *hugs*
hey! today you're coming?
ReplyDeletewasted ... we couldve gone for a food tour thingy together! but I'm going north. :(

ReplyDeletehmm... i nvr liked ipoh-style ccf with the pickled chilies, but ooh, wat i'd give to go back and have white coffee, foh san dim sum, teen tjun custard etc... *slurp*
ReplyDeleteThat's one great and tasty CCF. The sauce and the sourish green chilies makes this a appetising snack...can't be found in Penang :(
ReplyDeleteHappy indulging! I'm sure you'll no doubt blog about it all upon your return? This is a wonderful food review blog! hahaha...
ReplyDeletenice, i like yr fussiness of them being served on a steel plate. me too! HI^5!!!
ReplyDeletebut looking at the subsequent pic showing fried shallot on it...and it seem to hv no accompaniment(liew; fu pei, fishball, chu pei, taufu, long beans, etc) this place definitely cannot beat MY place. that's for sure babe! (without prejudice). fried shallots on CCF??? gosh! lol.
I so envy lah..!!

Ilene : Hahaha...thanks for the compliment. Well, for sure I'll blog about this short trip.
k.t.x : This is the Ipoh style lah. When in Rome do as the Romans do, when in Ipoh eat as the Ipohans do! ;p

ReplyDeleteHave tried stir fried cheong fun with chai po (preserved radish) and served with pickled green chili. Like it very much. I have not tried this combi though.

I had the best dim sum at Foh San! We had to each stand around for customers to get up to get a table! So crowded! I tried the chee cheong fun but it was not like yours. One more thing, there must be something wrong with my lumix camera. Why didn't my pictures turn out well as yours? Hmm......

ReplyDeleteNekohime : Oooh, you're in Ipoh or you made a trip there too?
I am from Ipoh :) but made the trip over the weekend to makan this grumpy man's CCF! I go all the way back for good CCF
ReplyDeletewow. the ccf certainly looks yummy. btw, is it an ipoh thing where you put green chilles on your ccf? Just wondering.
ReplyDeleteI grew up on Ipoh CCF, haha! Somebody was just telling me about this particular CCF stall and how he uses his bare hands to handle the CCF! This is the shop across the Canning Gdn market, right? I usually go for other CCF stalls whenever im back in Ipoh - hv not tried this fella's yet!
ReplyDeleteNekohime: Cool...love the food in Ipoh! :o)
ReplyDeletefortesfidelis : Hi there! Uh-huh, I think it's an Ipoh thing with the green chillies, hahaha...
Pureglutton : Yup, that's the one. Bare hands, maybe that's why it's good! Hehehe...
