Butter Egg Tarts - since I didn't take any photos at the outlet itself (I had thought that bakeries usually don't allow photography but seems I was mistaken about this outlet as KampungBoyCityGal was able to take some when they found this outlet last month too!), I packed three of these yummy babies home and did the photoshooting later.
I personally prefer the butter egg tarts (RM1.50 each) over the original RM(1.30). I find it more fragrant. The crispy and flaky pastry isn't brittle but yet distinctively layered. A bite into one of these; the pastry and wonderful custard ensemble, would stop the clock for a split second before one devours the whole egg tart up in glee (at least it did for me and JC!)....hahaha! I discovered this place in mid Nov and have been back several times though I have not made any visits in the month of December. They were giving out 20% discount off the egg tarts then (not sure if it applied to all the other pastries/bread because I have only been buying the butter egg tarts!). I wonder if the promo is still on in December. Only one way to find out....time for another visit! :o)

ReplyDeletei'm a sucker for those tarts ....
with butter some more !! beats John King's anyday?
I wonder how these shops survived paying high rentals on the ground floor? RM1.50 is consider not expensive. Good snacks .
ReplyDeletewmw,
ReplyDeleteButter eggtart? Seems nice! I can hardly find any nice eggtarts here in Miri. Normally they're just too "dry".
And yes, bakeries just don't like to be photographed! I was told by a bakery in Melbourne that I was not allowed to take photographs... but I had taken like 10+ already. So, what's the point?;)
new tong kee outlet in damansara right?! love both their butter n traditional version!~
ReplyDeleteNKOTB : Penang got nice egg tarts or not?
ReplyDeleteNic : Thanks, will check out the kaya roll!
Joe : You have got to try them then!
babe_kl : They are just so good hor?
J2kfm : Definitely beats John King's!
worldwindows : Maybe cos they have volume...I know the tarts fly off the shelves. One second there's a tray full of them, the next second...all the tarts are gone! Hahaha...
Kok : I really don't know lo, maybe they are afraid people can copy their trade secrets. Right! If I was a competitor taking photos won't help, I'll buy the items and take it back...take photos and do food tasting! Hehehe...Come to KL, I belanja you egg tarts!
Ai Wei : Yes, so yummy...how have you been? Still studying?
Ah, this one definitely beats John King's (I actually haven't drop by to get some but from the looks of it, it must be good!)
