Yay! Found the El Tonayense Taco Truck
Well, why I go so excited initially was that I was totally looking forward to having tripitas tacos (tripe) .... quite a number of varieties.
But unfortunately, when it was my turn to order - I was told that they were out of tripitas :o(
So, I had Asada (Beef) instead....we ordered two of these(USD1.50 each). It came served open faced with some salsa topping and on a rather flimsy paper plate with a wedge of lime & pickled jalapenos.
I have always enjoyed tacos but absolutely love these and I'm not sure whether it was because ...
A) It was the first time I was eating these tacos outdoors along the five foot way
B) It was the first time I was eating these tacos outdoors along the five foot way on the streets of San Francisco
C) It was the first time I was eating these tacos outdoors along the five foot way on the streets of San Francisco as a tourist without a care in the world.
D) The tacos were simply delicious.
E) ALL OF THE ABOVE
Answer : E
Soft and tender tortilla shells and flavourful meat, I thoroughly enjoyed chomping down on the tacos - taking a bite of the taco and a bite of the pickled jalapeno each round. We couldn't finish the jalapenos though and wished we had ordered more tacos! One could easily eat two of these in one sitting (or standing...) El Tonayense also does burritos, tortas and quesadillas of which I didn't manage to try but I saw some of the other customers downing their burritos with such gusto - must be good stuff too!
