With warm, inviting lights and situated out in an open area, the setting was cozy and it had a garden feel with lit panels of roses as the backdrop. Coupled with excellent service, this was great place that we started off with.
We started off with Crispy Fried Calamari with Capers, Lemon & Gremolata Aioli (USD16). With the calamari fried to almost perfection and dipped into the aioli which had so much flavours in it, we thoroughly enjoyed this zesty tasting starter.
The Grilled Prime Burger with Vermont Cheddar Cheese, Onion Marmalade (USD17) was filled with beefy goodness - thick juicy patty with two simple ingredients but yet flavourful, while not being overwhelming.
Ricotta Gnocchi with Sweet Fennel Sausage Bolognese (USD22). This dish was a mix of rich creamy texture with a delicious bolognese sauce. The Gnocchi is a hard dish to deliver but they got it spot on with the right amount of tenderness to it.
The Linguini with Manila Clams, Garlic, Pancetta, Fresh Chili, Wild Oregano (USD25). The bits of Pancetta added a whole new flavour to an otherwise simple fare. The Italian bacon - pork belly which is salt cured and spiced up was just heavenly to bite into together with the al-dente linguini.
Italian Sausage, Mushrooms, Onions & Parsley Pizza (USD14). This thin crust wood oven pizza came with generous mix of toppings which blended well together for a great taste, one that we couldn't get enough of! ... The law of diminishing marginal return didn't set in at all, hahaha....Of course, definitely not with someone like me who just loves mushroom - this was of course the almost perfect pizza to me (almost, 'cos nothing's perfect!)
We shared a Creme Brulee (USD9). With a puff pastry, the caramelized vanilla custard was topped with lovely fresh strawberries and looked delicately beautiful. The first bite garnered great response from all and soon the Creme Brulee was no more as we finished it, savouring each mouthful with the sweet tasting custard that lingered. It was a great way to end our almost perfect dining experience here at Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill :o)
