Otak-Otak Place @ Tropicana City Mall, Petaling Jaya

(HALAL)

I was glad when I found out that Otak-Otak Place is in Tropicana City Mall, their 3rd outlet to-date (1st being in 1Utama and 2nd in Giant, Kota Damansara). However, this outlet in Tropicana City Mall has a whole different look from the other two (the 1Utama outlet has already undergone some interior changes and I think so will the other outlet). I have to say that this is my favourite outlet and I'm not saying that just because it's only 5 minutes away from where I stay :o). I like the look of this place and food has also improved on this third "outing" of theirs.

Great new look! I like the old fashion gate at the side ...

Desserts @ Bread Basket Bakery, Kota Kemuning

Continuation from previous post....

As I mentioned previously, the gang weren't satisfied with lunch as we had earlier planned to have a day trip to Seremban but ended up in Kota Kemuning instead. Hahaha....

Pout
Tiger said as she pouts : I didn't get to eat beef balls and I'm not satisfied!!!

The sun was out in full force that day and we decided to skip coffee and look for a place to have desserts instead. After rounding the area, we decided to venture into this place after finding out that quite a number of eateries weren't open on Sundays here and this one was!

Pun Chun Noodle House @ Kota Kemuning

(NON-HALAL)

The Zoo Gang was looking forward to a day trip to Seremban for our usual Quinn's beef noodles but due to some last minute changes, we ended up in Kota Kemuning instead. Needless to say, Tiger was pouting a fair bit along the way as she was looking forward to the beef balls but anyway....

We drove to Kota Kemuning, wanting to visit somewhere else actually but it was not opened and we ended up in Pun Chun Noodle House. Read about them opening a branch here a while back but never got the chance to try it out till now. I sure have lots of sweet memories of Pun Chun back in Bidor as that was one of the many food pit stops that the Apple Crumble Team aka Fantastic Four (comprising of Jackson, Precious Pea, Teckiee and me) made when we took part in The Star's Drive For Food back in 2007!

Pun Chun Kota Kemuning

Pun Chun
Well, they had the same sort of display here, selling the usual famous "chicken" biscuits sans the little snack corner that has delicious Woo Kok (Yam/Taro Puff) in Bidor.

Tiger's order of Duck Drumstick Dry Noodles (RM6.80) came first. I had to take the shots quickly as I was afraid Tiger would take a swipe at me with her "paws" if I took my time composing the shot. Hence I'm unsated with this pic of Tiger's food! Hahah :op
Duck Drumstick Dry Wantan Noodles
I remembered the soup in Bidor was darker and oilier. I tried a spoonful of soup and found the taste too strong and bitter for my liking and hoped I would like my order...

Khuntai Restaurant - Thai Food, Petaling Jaya

W
here were we? Ahhh.... dinner on Sunday night with Mom. Bro was in a spicy mood and suggested that we do Thai for dinner and suggested somewhere nearby; Khuntai. I've heard several people telling me that Khuntai dishes out rather good Thai food and wondered if it's as good as they say.

Arriving there during peak dinner time without reservations (it was packed, either due to the usual dinner crowd or 'cos it's Mom's Day), we waited for a bearable 10 minutes or so before we got a table. I had hoped to get a table with adequate lighting but was shown to a table outdoors. "Bummer!", I told myself as lighting was just minimum, hardly conducive for photos but tried my best.

As I was busy chatting with my nephew, Spare Change about photography, lighting etc. etc. (shooting the chili bottles to test the lighting), my bro did the ordering. So, I didn't know what to expect till the dishes were delivered to the table. We ordered a big jug of Kedondong (Ambarella) fruit juice which I didn't take a photo of. At RM20, it really quenched our thirst and was enough for the 6 of us.

Spicy Mango Kerabu
The Spicy Mango Kerabu (RM15/USD4.30) - I found the mango too raw for me but loved eating the whole ensemble together with the crispy anchovies, cashew nuts and onions. Not as spicy as I thought it would be.

Fish Maw Kerabu
SIL being a vege lover, ordered the Fish Maw Kerabu (RM13/USD3.70). As if having read my thoughts on the earlier dish, this one came loaded with chili padi (bird's eye chili), very evident from the photo right? Approach with caution. The Fish Maw was slightly crispy but had an overall chewy texture. This was like a "Thai" mesclun salad with all sorts of greens. Taste wise, I prefer the Spicy Mango Kerabu over this.

Mom's Day Out

Just a quick update on today's lunch. Took Mom out for lunch and she wanted to go to 1Utama for a bit of shopping. As we wandered about, we ended up at Italiannies ... Pleasantly surprised that they were giving Moms a discount off selected main meals according to their age! Here are the pics ... (FYI, we celebrated again at dinner time!). Mrs Pitt, wished you were here...

Swine Porridge ! Selera Jati Petaling Jaya

(NON-HALAL)

I have taken these photos for quite some time now but never got around to posting them yet as I could not get the actual name of the place. This Selera Jaya is not the Medan Selera at Jalan Othman but is opposite Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Darker and with lesser stalls, the place here still has a few stalls with certain specialties that draw their own customers.

Selera Jaya PJ

Like the porridge stall I went to. With the recent outbreak of swine flu, I had wondered if business at this stall had decreased since I last went there but when I dropped by the other day, they were still doing brisk business!

Porridge Stall

This stall owner churns out bowls and bowls of porridge and other goodies. It's so swine filled that even I found it a little bit too much for me. Why? I only eat good roast pork and char siew, yes, that's how I like 'em swine meat! What my friends ordered, I could only stare in disbelief - which is heavenly to quite a number of people though, judging by the lot who ordered this....

New Lives!

As Pea turned 6 on April 20, Jojo gave birth to 7 puppies on the same day - 5 males, 2 female. I was fortunate enough to be around to take photos of the little fellas :o). Congrats Glorious Jade! You're a grandma!

Rex & JoJo

Happy Parents - Rex & JoJo (Dad in front, Mom at the back). Look at that big smile on Rex's face, so handsome! This was a day before JoJo gave birth. Look at how she crosses her front legs, looking so elegant.

A pic of the puppies!!! Jojo had only given birth to 5 puppies at this point.

Pinky!

I call this one Pinky, - actually all of them were pink! :p So cute! This was when Pinky was about 2 hour plus old!

Here's To Life!!!

Have a Great Sunday Everyone!
