Musicals, Musicals!

Ah, finally...I got a chance to sit down long enough to watch Bride & Prejudice. After watching the recent Pride & Prejudice (the one starring Kiera Knightley), this was a refreshing version of it. Well, Bride & Prejudice is a Bollywood musical version, complete with the singing and dancing, rocking and rolling, raining or water fountain scenes, sarees and all (wait, were there coconut trees or did I just missed them?). I was thoroughly amused each time they sang an English song but with a Hindi tune! It's a 2004 movie, so if some of you have watched it you must have enjoyed it like I did. If not, go get it. Mrs Pitt, you can watch it when you are back here. Just don't make me dance with you or use my furniture as make believe movie props! LOL...

It was Lyn who told me to see it and I got my hands on a copy about 2 months back (thanks to KCC) but never got around to seeing it. Did you know that there are about 9 versions of Pride & Prejudice (movies, tv and mini-series - info from imdb.com) ? Mmm...come to think of it, even Bridget Jones' Diary had Mr Darcy too! The first one was screened on TV in 1938! That's 30 years before I popped out from my mom's womb like a fresh loaf of bread from the oven (yes, I associate most things/events with food!).

Well, the lead actor, Martin Henderson, looks like Matthew McConaughey in certain scenes and of course the lead actress Aishwarya Rai (former Miss World for India 1994) looks fabulous though she put on 20lbs for her role. Watching the movie, I think she looks better with the weight gain! Of course, I can't be subjective on such a topic! Ha ha .... I love musical shows (especially the quirky ones), like 8 Femmes, a French movie. Next on my play list is The Producers. Are there any more of such movies?

Here's To Many More!

This is a post for Sat, 20th May, where the group of us celebrated JC1's birthday. I only got the pics today. We started off with dinner at Lit Heong (again, hee hee, I think it will be awhile before I go back there again!). We then ended up at Chef Ken's in Kepong for drinks and cake.
Eh, birthday celebration or agency meeting???
Well, the food and the drinks were good but of course the outing was better. It's a good change that we gathered together for something else apart from agency meetings! All work and no play makes me sleepy...hee hee. Not being restricted by time and to the confines of a meeting room, we had time to chat and got to know/understand each other better. Even though going on trips together, we normally don't get the chance to sit down and talk. You know, the hectic schedule of tours, wake up early, gulp down breakfast, run to the bus, sightseeing, shopping, lunch, ushered back to bus, more sightseeing, more shopping, dinner, ushered back to bus and then back to hotel. However, the girls normally gather in a room for girls' talk when we can. So, such outings like the one on Saturday was a refreshing change. Here's to many more, birthdays and all!
The green tea cake was delicious. We put the cake back together when we realised that we should take a pic of it first. LOL!

Punching Bag!

Wow! Cool! I dropped by my bro's place today and was pleasantly surprised to see a punching bag hanging out in the verandah. Mmmm.....here's a place to do some boxing and stress relief (not that I'm stressed but just in case! I normally like to sing my blues away in a karaoke session. He he...). ET showed me THE moves and I made him go through the routine while I took a pic of him.

I heard that boxing is a fun way to make one lose some weight and keep fit. A lot of girls/women are taking up boxing in the States. Mmm....guess I will need to find some boxing gloves! I remember that I actually use to have a red pair, I was about 8 years old then. Dear ol' Dad bought them for me! But I didn't have a punching bag, just pretend boxing with Dear ol' Dad :o) I would say that I have a happy and normal childhood, uh, aside from the incidents with Grandma. God Bless Her Soul!

Later at night, KA looked me up for dinner and after going through the usual routine of "Where To Eat Ah?", I suggested Tua Huat to try some Ulu Yam food and off we went.
As much as I thought about boxing, I still must eat to fill my stomach!
Located at Sec. 19, PJ. It's a no frills, small town looking restaurant (exterior and interior!)
We ordered the Claypot Yam Pork Rib noodles (I ate the yam, KA ate the pork!), fried rice and parang fish cake. The claypot only came in medium size and as good as it was, we couldn't finish it. We finished the small portion of fried rice and the fish cake though. Told KA not to waste the mee and packed it for breakfast tomorow!
Look at the things on the table, small town stuff! Steaming hot claypot mee!
May not look that good but it does taste good!

KA was happy as she was just thinking about Ulu Yam food recently. So, tonight's meal was satistying. She even mentioned that she'll tell the rest of the gang and would plan for lunch at Tua Huat soon again! Well, I'm always glad to see folks happy! ;o

Survey - Dennis Or Daniel ?

JC2 asked me what I thought of Dennis O'Neil. He's another Korean American model who acted in Korean drama, Sweet Spy. Dennis O is good looking too but I don't get weak at the sight of him as compared to my Daniel Henney. I told JC2 that I'll do a survey. So, you folks tell me. Dennis O or Daniel????

What A Weekend!

Wow! What a filled weekend. E, I'm so sorry that we didn't get a chance to meet up when you came down to KL. Hopefully, there will be a next time. On Saturday, I had karaoke lunch in Subang. Then visited a client friend in Bukit Jelutong. Then dinner in Kepong! I got home at 1am, checked my emails and slept at 2.30 and woke up at 8. Don't be worried that I've gone nuts or something like that (to wake up that early after such a long day). Just that I went back to Kepong this morning at 9am to see a client! I then rushed off for the 11am church service and had lunch with JC1 and SD. Mmm....SD brought us to this new place for Pan Mee (flour noodles or "mee kayu", hee hee). Rather interesting, they have the normal Pan Mee and they also have Spinach or Carrot Pan Mee! They serve it in several ways; dry, soup, curry, loh, sizzling! They have other noodles too like Yee Mee for those who want to try something apart from mee kayu!

Anyway, I went home after that and went on the net again. An hour later, I went to take a nap and woke up at 6.15pm. KCC had planned to meet up with me with her mom for dinner. I brought my mom along too and we ended up eating dinner at Dragon-I, 1Utama. We tried the Shanghai Siew Loong Pau (little translucent flour skin steam pork dumpling with a bit of soup inside) but the ones at Chef Loong (SS2) are the best!

They were having a Cuti-cuti Malaysia Travel Fair at the Concourse area at the New Wing and I decided to take a look. Ended up putting down a RM50 deposit to secure a package to Langkawi, valid till May 2007. Oooh! I better start planning for Mrs Pitt and Zahara's mini getaway(s) when they come over here sometime in July.

Well, I am actually finishing up this entry at about 2am on Monday. I'm waking up early again to see a client at 10am. Wow! It's been hectic...but you know what? It's great, it's living!

Wanton Me is Wanton Fun!

Back from watching Wanton Me! The show is wicked! It's really funny and I highly recommend that it's a must see. But leave your "halo" at the door, as this show covers a lot of "topics". From the moment I stepped into the studio, I saw a chandelier made from strings and strings of red bras, I knew I was in for a fun and wild time! Selena Tan and Hossan Leong gave us an insight of Singaporeans too along with jokes on politics, sex, food, human behaviour and more with some Hokkien words now and then. Before we knew it, the show came to an end. I looked at my watch, 1 1/2 hours has just gone by like that. Time really do fly when one is having fun!

After the show, we (JC1, CC and KA) went for coffee in Coffee Bean and continued chatting. Unfortunately, since I was the only Cantonese there, I was the brunt of the joke when I attempted to speak Hokkien! You see, the three of them are Hokkiens and I had all three laughing at me! However, some words were easy to learn as it was the same in Bahasa Malaysia. E.g. jamban (toilet), tuala (towel), sabun (soap), tolong (help), bangku (stool). I think there is more to that list.

Well, one thing for sure, Penangnites find it very hard to learn any other Chinese dialects. Their Hokkien is so deeply embedded in them that it is so difficult for them to pick up another dialect/language. Anyway, go watch Wanton Me! Tons of fun!

Stay Tuned ...

Had an enjoyable dinner after meeting, chatting with VJ and JC1. Gosh, we were probably the last ones to leave Clear, a new drinking place in Plaza Mont Kiara. They serve delicious appetizers, pizzas and pasta. We had lamb strips, honey glazed sausages, calamari, chicken wings and a pizza. While munching on the spread, the three of us told our repetoire of jokes and antidotes for life, we had a good laugh. We went down memory lane, recalling shows like M.A.S.H and All in The Family. Just so happens I have these two books, Stay Tuned and Now Showing (both by Joe Garner), that I think VJ would be interesting in borrowing.

By the time I got home, it was already 1.30am. We spoke a lot, and one of the things agreed was if a friendship means/meant a lot to you, we should cherish it or try our best to fix it when things go wrong, as it is worthwhile to do so. There are some where you don't fix it but move on to a new one too! Ha ha ha Well, it's good to continue trying as long as one is not affected by the loss. Instead of having negative feelings, lamenting the loss of friendship while trying, it's much better to be positive, to have hopes of one day that things will work out. Otherwise, if dwelling too much on the sadness, we might affect our lives in other areas in a negative way too.

Well, I'm gonna sleep now but to end my pleasant day as night appears (it's already another day!), here's Daniel! Mrs Pitt, this one is for you! Take some time off to relax!

Keanu Cutie!

Had wanted to blog earlier but Streamyx was down, I just couldn't get connected to the internet. It's late now and I just remembered that I told K that I will blog about Keanu Reeves. I like him and still do, though I think he's a bit skinny nowadays. His most "beautiful" days was when he starred in "Speed", he was so gorgeous. I remember the scene when he was chasing after the bus and he rammed the bus's glass door panel with his elbow. That was so cool!!!!!! He was also cool looking in Point Break.

Of course, I will never forget Paula Abdul's Rush Rush music video! I was so upset that she got to kiss him. Watch the video and take another trip down memory lane featuring a young Paula Abdul and Keanu!

How could Diane Keaton's character choose Jack Nicholson's character over Keanu's character in "Something's Gotta Give"?. Yeah, Keanu's definitely not forgotten. I'll blog more on him in the future (of course on Daniel and Yutaka too).

Jack : I have to warn you, I've heard relationships based on intense experiences never work.
Annie : OK. We'll have to base it on sex then.
Jack : Whatever you say, ma'am.

Grease Is The Word???

Went to see Grease with KA, SL, SK, Daisy and JC1. What can I say? The show was just okay, felt quite detached from any emotions while watching it. I don't know whether it had anything to do with the fact that I was seating upstairs, far away from the stage. I wasn't that keen on watching Grease, (I mean, I can't imagine anyone one else playing Danny and Sandra apart from John Travolta and Olivia Newton John!) but decided to go along since the group were excited about it.

Maybe that was it, I just didn't feel it as it wasn't JT or ONJ on the stage. Seeing a different Danny and Sandra sing "You're The One That I Want" just wasn't the same. That's how deeply etched the movie version is in my head! I remember wishing back then (1978, I was just ten!), how wonderful it would be if JT and ONJ were a couple in real life. They actually re-released Grease in theaters in 1998 as a 20th Anniversary special. The other movie which they starred together as a couple was Two Of A Kind (1983). It wasn't a hit but I loved it nevertheless as I could see them together again! Of course my heart broke when John Travolta married Kelly Preston and not ONJ. You know how it can be, I wished that Mulder married Scully, Scarecrow married Mrs King, Remington Steele married Laura, to name a few. Do any of you have anymore to add to this wishlist?

Oh well, I was "entertained" for two hours and got this free souvenir from Maxis. Now, excuse me while I go dig out my old Grease soundtrack cd, dust it off and relive the good ol' days of Grease, The Movie by singing along to all the songs! Those Magic Changes indeed ....
Look ! I'm starring in Grease (together with JC1). I had trouble getting into the convertible (Greased Lightning) as it was a bit small for me. Ha ha ...

Marty :Do you think these glasses make me look smarter?
Rizzo: No, you can still see your face (from Grease)

Mother's Day Everyday!

Here's another picture filled entry about food! The whole family celebrated Mother's Day (two moms; my sis-in-law and mom) at Restaurant Lit Heong in Bandar Sri Bintang. We had eaten there before and enjoyed the food and decided to do dinner there again. They have a few specialty dishes and we ordered most of it that night.
La La with ginger & wine
Buttercheese Crab. The delicious gravy goes well with mantou.
Kam Heong small sotong. See the inset pic, they look like little aliens, a bit scary at first but they turned out to be very tasty!
Coconut Tom Yam Prawns! Spicy!
We had arrived there about 7 and the customers were already streaming in fast and furious. It was a satisfying meal and by the time we left the place, every table was filled. There are several other restaurants along that block, all of them doing brisk business. We made our way home straight away as we had dessert waiting for us.

These are my growing nephews. On the right is O and left is E, they are both a lot taller than I am (it doesn't help with me being short, so they end up looking really tall when I'm next to them! ha ha...) We managed to rescue the Mango Delight cake which I got from Fruity before O could do any harm to it!

The cake was so nice and though we were full from dinner, the family still had huge slices of it as it was light and fluffy. The cake had layers of mango cubes in between which was mixed with vanilla cream!!!! Yum! Yum! They even have a Durian Delight version which is not available at the moment as it is seasonal (Mango Delight is seasonal too). I have added some pics to the Fruity blog. Check it out.

So, there goes another year of Mother's Day celebration. Happy Mother's Day! Everyday should be a happy day for all moms!

The End That Brings A New Beginning!

When Jen left us and started her new life, the group of us (Sweet, Ju, Penny and I) told ourselves that we should value our friendship and should meet up more often. I told some of my other friends that the last thing I want is for us to meet up when it's my funeral. A lot of people out there don't value friendship and take it for granted at times. A friendship that took years to build can be destroyed overnight or forgotten with time. Some friends fall out either over the silliest things or over major issues. Some of those whom we may regard as friends, may regard us as acquaintances. To this I say - Have no expectations from your friends (or anyone for that matter) and you will never be disappointed.

With that promise we made and spurred by the memory of Jen, we gathered on Sat (KCC included) and had a belated celebration of Ju's birthday. We went to Galaxy for karaoke lunch and I was surprised by their package. On weekends, Redbox charges RM11-13++ for a set lunch (a main meal with a drink) and of course free room usage from 11am-2pm. However, over here in Galaxy, it's RM9.90++. For RM9.90++, we get a set lunch (a main meal- which tastes better than RB's, with a drink), free room usage from 11am-2pm PLUS a mini buffet spread! The buffet spread serves sandwiches, fried wanton, spring rolls, crabmeat balls, steamed dim sum, otak-otak, seaweed soup, currypuff, fishcake and more. What an incredible deal! I didn't eat much, not finishing my main meal and had a plate of the buffet spread. Plus the karaoke videoclips were of Caucasians with a story line rather than the usual Asians walking around doing nothing but staring at the sky or ground. Ha ha ha....

Here's to you Ju and to everyone else, here's to our 20 over years of friendship!
We had loads of fun singing songs of the 80s and felt that we were transported back in time when we were in our early teenage years (minus the pinafore)! LOL! After our 3 hours of pure madness, we followed Ju home and visited her mom. Her mom greeted us just like I recall the way she did when I was still a kid visiting Ju at her house. We all sat round and talked about old times while Ju's kids, Mellaney and Ethan(the only two reminder that we were indeed women and no longer some giggly young teens!), played around us.

We then left, promising to meet up again. I don't know about the rest, but that outing gave me a warmth, a warmth that made me happy. I have always been one to try and stay in touch with most of my friends. This outing reminds me why I should still stay in touch as the reward of experiencing that happiness makes it all worthwhile.
It felt great going out together and to know that even after all these years, we kept in touch and will continue to do so. So, see you all again soon! The next outing? Ladies Night!

Bulgogi

My love affair with the Japanese and Koreans continues yet for another day. I went to a Korean Restaurant in Desa Sri Hartamas for dinner. The last time I had a proper Korean meal was in Korea itself back in 1999 and a smaller scale one in the States 2 years back. The little small meals of my glass noodles and kim chi in Ampang Point were tiny treats.

K and I were chatting on MSN about our usual Korean and Japanese dramas when we suddenly got onto the topic of Korean food. K mentioned that there's this good place for Korean food and since Friday was a holiday, we decided to have a Korean dinner on Friday night. We had already planned to order bulgogi
while we were chatting online! Bulgogi is a popular dish in Korea (usually first timers order this, I was told). It's thin strips of marinated beef cooked with glass noodles, spring onions and onions. So, tonight, we made our way there and ordered the bulgogi. As usual, appetizers are brought to the table while we wait for our beef to cook, there were about 10 tiny bowls in all (unlimited servings).
The appetizers surrounding the cooker was a meal itself!
You take a lettuce leaf, put some bulgogi on it, add a slice garlic and a dash of chilli paste.
You can take a bite of the green chilli if you want to kick it up a notch!

The cooked bulgogi ready to be eaten! The sweet gravy is delicious!
I can take it as a beverage! LOL!

K had also ordered her favourite kimchi chigae which is kimchi soup. This is poured onto the rice and eaten just like that. It's really thick and spicy but I found it just okay whereas K likes it a lot.
Steaming hot kimchi chigae (and spicy too!)
I felt good walking when we left the restaurant. I could use the extra exercise since I was feeling so full. It was an enjoyable meal and I wouldn't mind going back another time. Thanks for introducing me this place K!

Salivate

Today was just another normal day. Yes folks, I'm still clearing. I aim to at least clear the living room floor area by Sunday. After that it'll be the closets/wardrobe and store room! I will have a pretty busy week ahead, with my Shah Alam trips for Fruity and two shows ahead; Grease and Wanton Me. As a matter of fact, I wish I could just go on another holiday now! Ha Ha...nope, I can be holidaying all the time, right? ;p

By the way, I "finished" Rondo 2006. Actually, not really, I was at episode 8 and the suspense was just killing me, I cheated and went straight to episode 11, the last one and saw the finale. I let out a sigh of relief and found peace once again! Ha Ha Ha....It's a good show though some Japanese conversations were "lost in translation". I enjoyed it, recommended, especially to Yutaka fans!

Well, the fruityfood.blogspot.com is up and I have put up some pics and will add on more later. See the pics and salivate!

Meanwhile, here's another pic of Daniel Henney for us fans to salivate! I'm going insane! Good night!

As the pic says, he's a beautiful creature alright!

Fruity Blog!

I will be shamelessly using a new blog to advertise Fruity's food items and promotions. I'm currently working on it. So, I might be doing only short postings or maybe not on a daily basis till then for this blog. I'm thinking of starting a Fruity food lover community! Ha ha ha ... Anyway, let me post one of my fave food of Fruity here first, the croissant sandwich. My favourite is the chicken filling (they have tuna too). It's the best I've tasted. The mayo, onions and other spices with the shredded chicken just taste so good.
As you can see I've chosen fruityfood.blogspot.com, it's still in draft mode. If you want to try out Fruity's food, drop by Tesco Shah Alam (Lot No. 2, Ground Floor, Jalan Aerobik 13/43, Seksyen 13, 40100 Shah Alam). It's at the corner near the escalators going up to Tesco Hypermarket. Oh, and look at these pastries from Fruity!!!! I better stop here, I'm seriously getting hungry!

I Need Strength & Patience!

Oh, I forgot, I was in Midvalley on Saturday night and found out that Jusco was having a Japanese Fair promotion. They sold all types of Japanese snacks and even had green tea soft serve ice cream for sale at RM4.50 a cone. They imported the green tea ice cream mix all the way from Japan. I was so happy that I got a chance to eat another green tea ice-cream before the fair ended on Sunday. Reminds me of this nice green tea ice cream I had in Japan, bought from a convenience store. It had redbean and coconut milk too, all in a wafer biscuit (and that's my grape sweets! I love grape flavoured stuff!).
Yum! Yum! Gees, I'm getting hungry...
Another day of clearing in between going out. CC came at about 11 and we headed off to HQ before we lunched at Vietnamese Kitchen, 1U. We then went to a new place, TV Cafe for drinks, somewhere quieter to have a chat. We talked about everything under the sun! Lyn later joined us and we then went to do some grocery shopping before I headed back and continued with the clearing!

As soon as the floor becomes more visible (prior to clearing, I had stuff all over the floor), I cleared another corner and transferred the stuff to the floor again while going through the process. Seems to be neverending, Hee hee... God, please grant me strength and patience!

Gonna make this short and sweet tonight, I'm sitting at the PC with things surrounding me. If only I can start a bonfire and just throw everything in without going through the stuff. Alas, that's not to be, I'm a sentimental fool, remember? It may slow down the process but it brings a lot of good memories back as I'm looking through. Even reminders from things that tell me some things have changed and are not around anymore, (that feeling, I love too...) as it makes me cherish even more of the things/people I have now.

Bachelorettes Not Spinsters!

I bought a paper shredder to help me dispose my stack of documents. I was getting tired of tearing them! Just goes to show how much paper I have to throw away. I actually spent a good half day clearing some stuff, there's progress but I need to work harder! Ha ha ha. Well, I actually forgot to eat lunch while clearing. I then went off with Lyn to the night market to buy my organic shitake mushroom and get something for my dinner. Having walked around the stretch of stalls, I could not find anything interesting.

I was about to take a second round when KA smsed and asked whether I had dinner plans. I gladly called her back to let her know that I can do dinner and she came and fetched me later. As usual, we had so much trouble coming up with a place to eat. That's the problem with us "bachelorettes", we eat out so often, we always have to think where to eat next. Speaking of bachelorettes, nephew O asked me how come we call ourselves that and not "spinsters" instead. Him being tactless as usual, should thank his lucky stars that he directed the question at me and not someone else. I doubt the other "spinsters" will be thrilled by such a question. I then told him that "spinster" is an old fashion word (and is degrading) and bachelorettes are for single women who are hip and fun! Single women of the older age are far more sophisticated and independent nowadays. Apparently, feminists object even to the usage of the word "bachelorette" along with spinster, divorcee and widow as these words are deemed negative! Dear nephew O, please be informed (by the way, the word "gay" is not longer used as "happy" anymore too!). LOL ...

Here's some "happy" cowboys - from Brokeback Mountain

After chowing down on beef noodles from Soo Kee, Damansara, we went to Atria as we were quite full and wanted to walk a bit. Poor Atria, it's quite dead now and a lot of shops have closed down. I hope the management can turn things around and revive it. It has a lot of memories for me. I remember when we shifted up to PJ in 1993, we use to go there quite often for dinner, the whole family that is. Dear old Dad included. We would usually eat at Esquire Kitchen and walk around after that. I thought of you, Dad, as I walked around today. I want you to know, that I miss you Dad. I still remember holding your hand as we walked around, or you and Mom will be holding hands, how romantic the two of you were even in your golden years. I remember the warmth of your hands, Dad. It runs in the family, my friends told me that I have warm hands too. Dad, I miss seeing your mischievous smile as you pull another prank on me. Dad, I miss being around you, you have brought me a lot of happy memories. This bachelorette wants you to know that.

Kedu ?

Picked G up From Summer Palace today. Then met up with JC1 and went to church. G enjoyed the service and said that he doesn't mind going to this church again. Since he had never been to PJ area, we took him to 1U and at his request for Chinese food, we ate at Esquire Kitchen, JC1's treat. We found out that he would like to go into politics in future though he's doing accounting in Malaysia at the moment (US was his first choice but he couldn't get the student's visa). We got into that cos JC1 and I were joking that when we go to Nigeria to visit him, we would like to have a police escort and chauffeured car. He said that it can be arranged! Ha ha ha, he was telling us how visitors are treated. I told JC1 that seeing how comical we can be, we can probably made a comedy movie out of our trip there, a National Lampoon sort of movie, anything that can go wrong, will go wrong! Seems his uncle is running for election to be the king of G's state. Like a Sultan for our states but in their case, they are elected and not restricted to royalty bloodline. Interesting indeed. I also picked up a few simple Nigerian language which are pretty easy to remember.

biar - come
biar here - come here
kedu? - How are you?
Odimma - I'm fine
Jisike - Take care
Mmm cho lo - I want to
Mmm cho lo ini lit - I want to eat
Miri - river
After sending him back, I rushed to K's place to fetch her, little R and the maid to McD's. I have always seen little R's pic (pics here courtesy of K) but have not met him in person. Since he's here vacationing (he's from US) and K was looking after him over the weekend, I thought I'll swing by and take him out. We decided on Centerpoint McDs as they have a playland there (he had a wonderful time playing the slides!). We were playing with him as he was eating his sundae when all of a sudden I realise he froze and was looking behind me. I turned around and there were two girls smiling back at me and at him. Seems little R is quite a "ladykiller", he smiled and then waved at the girls, who in turn giggled. I wonder how much chaos little R would cause when he grows up! Ha ha ha.....This pic above was taken before his 1st birthday. He just turned two recently. K said that he really knows how to "zap" the girls! Yah, he's really very cute (even with all those mosquito bites on his face!), I wish I was two! LOL . . .

Mom's Happy!

I am attempting to sleep earlier nowadays. So rather than blogging past midnight on Saturday, I cheated and made a draft and told myself that I'll blog in something later during the day. However, I was out of the house the whole day. Now, I'm blogging Saturday's post using Saturday's date but it's actually past midnight on Sunday!

Anyway, I went out with mom today. It's been awhile since I took mom out on Saturdays, somehow or rather I've been busy. Knowing that I'll be unavailable next Saturday, I told myself that I should take her out today. Took her to 1Utama and came across the booth set up by the company and some familiar faces. Introduced mom to them and one of them said that my mom looks so young that she can pass off as my sis. Well, if she's sincere then there's nothing to her remark but if not, maybe she's telling me that I'm old! Ha ha ha

1Utama was having a fashion event called Fashion Elevation held by V Mag. I wished that I had taken my camera there. Note to self:Bring camera along, no matter where I go (that means to the toilet too! LOL). We reached there just in time to catch a fashion show by Body Glove and I excitedly told mom "Hey, Body Glove has underwears too, there might be guys parading in underwears. Let's go watch". Mom gamely went with me to find a good spot about 10 minutes before the show started. When it did, we were both disappointed as the male models were not hunks. I think they hired dancers instead of real models because the whole fashion show was a dance presentation with the "models" dancing around t-shirts, shorts and capris. No underwear in sight. Sigh, mom was saying, "Where got underwear show?" Ha ha ha, sorry for the false information but I guess we were better off not seeing such a segment if those dancers were going to be the same guys parading in Body Glove's underwear range! Phew!

Later, we did our fair share of shopping and came out in time to catch another round of fashion show, this time Guy Laroche. Lucky thing too, there were plenty of eye candy! There were 8 male models (6 Caucasians, 2 locals) and 4 female models (3 Caucasians and 1 local) and they paraded the conventional way, shashaying down the runway.

Mom : Oh, at least these are Mat Sallehs!
Me : Mmm, so much better looking than the earlier ones!
Mom : I like that one, the one with the "five o'clock shadow", he's cute"
Me : Nah, I like the other one, the one with the softer hairstyle.
Mom : Oh look, there's a Chinese.
Me: Mmm, nah, not good looking lah.
Mom : He reminds me of the Hong Kong actor, Chan Ho. You know who right?
Me : Oh yeah, he does look like him. Wah! You're so terror.
Me: Eh, notice there are no blonde guys?
Mom : Ya lah, how come ?
(Few minutes later....)
Mom : Oh, they are all walking out, show finish already.

(Clap, clap, clap, and we make our way to the carpark)

Oh well, mom was happy today. We went out, had lunch, shopped and oogled at good looking men together. What more could one ask for! I'm happy too (though there was no Daniel on the runway... if only!!!!)
I would be truly happy if I saw this on the runway today! *swoons*

My name is Yoshe Yamada

Got caught in the rain today as I was running around doing errands and am feeling a bit under the weather now. Darn, the rain is scary nowadays. Literally true when one says "When it rains, it pours". Throw in the furious wind, thunder and lightning, it's freaky! I gave Mrs M a ride to the hospital downtown as she got a call from the hospital informing her that they are releasing Mr M. But it wasn't good news. His cancer is at Stage 4, and there's nothing that can be done to improve the situation. He is required to go back (being a government hospital) on an appointed date with the family for more discussion on May 18. Mrs M was not told how much time Mr M has left as the doctor was not around. She cried as we talked about this when we went out to get food for Mr M after we dropped him home. I really don't know what to say as I know it truly hurts but deep down, I knew it was better to go, then to hang around and suffer. Furthermore, the Mahs are not financially able to deal with huge medication bills. I just don't know, I don't know what to think anymore. Such is life.

Anyway, given the fact that I'm not really in the right frame of mind to blog, I thought I would just post some stuff from Blogthings.com. Lots of tests to take, check out the website yourself.

Your Life Path Number is 11

Your purpose in life is to inspire others

Your amazing energy draws people to you, and you give them great insight in return.
You hold a great amount of power over others, without even trying.
You have the makings of an inventor, artist, religious leader, or prophet.

In love, you are sensitive and passionate. You connect with your partner on a very deep level.

You have great abilities, but you are often way too critical of yourself.
You don't fit in - and instead of celebrating your differences, you dwell on them.
You have high expectations of yourself. But sometimes you set them too high and don't achieve anything.

I don't have high expectations, nor am I critical or dwell on my differences. If I did have any of these, I don't now.
When my Dad passed away, it made me understand life better. I've learnt that when one has no expectations, one would not be disappointed. Moving along on Blogthings, I just had to do this next test when I saw it on the list!

Evergreen Engrish

A short post tonight on more Engrish! Thanks to Mrs Pitt and Lyn. Oh yes! Wow2 told me that Angelina Jolie has given birth to a baby boy! Congrats! Now the whole world would like to see how your baby looks like! I wanna see too!
Pic from Mrs Pitt
Are there really no Japanese who actually cares about what goes on display such as signages like this one? Buildeing???? I do suppose that the buildeing is safe though the spelling didn't pass the QC test and was not certified fit!

You might want to try to get your fortune told for 100 yen while you're in Japan. English Fortune they say but when they use "Hard Money" rather than "coin" (and what about "Pay Down"???), you might not really understand what they are really trying to tell you about your fortune with their style of Engrish. That will indeed be hard money going down the drain!

I suppose when Lyn took this next shot, she was probably thinking, "You mean this Japanese restaurant actually hired some English folks to tend to English speaking customers? How thoughtful". Sorry though, there weren't any English staff(s) in sight. The Japanese also have a love for "s", it's universal It's true, love speaks all languages!

With the help of Babel Fish Translator, I have generated how the previous paragraph about the English Staff would be like if it was written in Japanese Engrish.

Perhaps I her thought of that the English really because it is tend in the customer where this Japanese restaurant speaks English no person of, people are employed, Lyn when took this following shock, "it means you suppose? "Consideration it is deep, how. But regrettable, English staff (s) it was not in vision. And love for "s", the truth which is universal that that it is, love is language everything which you speak in the Japanese!

Learnt this trick from Engrish.com (which is a fave site of mine!) . Just type in the English text and click to translate English to Japanese. The translated text woul d appear as question marks should you not have Japanese text support. Then cut and paste the "question marks" into the textbox again as in the first step and now click Japanese to English. Tada! You now have your very own Japanese Engrish! Remember, the longer the sentences (or more), the funnier it will be!

Bloody Mary & Pink Martini

Had tea with Lyn today and had a funny conversation about menopause and this brought on stories I have heard about experiences of friends (and friends of friends) with their first menstruation. No mention of names here.

1) Using the stick on pad for the first time, peeled the lining off and stuck the sticky side to own flesh rather than to panty.
2) Thought "I'm dying" when started bleeding, cried and said farewell to sis
3) No idea till mom pointed out as she sat with her legs resting on top of table, feet apart!
4) Wore the ones with the loops with self made string and nearly peed into it when she had difficulty untying the knot when she needed to go.
5) Really believed that a Bloody Mary drink was one made with a used tampon/pad!

Nowadays, sanitary pads/tampons comes in all shapes and lengths. There are pads up to 35cm long so that one can sleep and bleed safely! Did you know that there's even a Museum of Menstruation website???? Lots of fun, check out the humour section!
For more insight into this unique reusable cloth menstrual pad - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanitary_napkin

Anyway, let's move on to a less bloody topic! Ha ha ha .... Music. I bought 3 audiophile cds today, have not been buying cds for the longest time. I have been wanting to get Emi Fujita's Camomile Extra for a while now. Popular Bookstore in Ikano plays it all the time and then when I was at JC1's house about two months back, someone brought the cd. So finally today, as I was browsing through the cds in Victoria Music Station, I came across it and decided to get it, finally. Well, it's not something one should listen if they are in the mood to party, rather, this CD relaxes your mind, mmm, I'm too relaxed as it is! Maybe this CD will put me to sleep, but I mean that in a good way! They are selling this CD for USD27 on Ebay, way too expensive! Here's the link to a Thai CD site where you can hear some songs sampling of this cd. The other two are Pink Martini's Sympathique and Hang On Little Tomato. The music and vocals are wonderful, some relaxing and some great for dancing! Mrs Pitt, they'll be playing in SFO on July 28 (but guess you won't be there!). Listening to their CD, I can only say, is like celebrating life! Get one and you will know what I mean.

Observations About Men

Signing on to MSN, this was one of the articles highlighted today - "10 signs your date's a keeper". I read the article where there are 10 questions about your date. I answered them, no, I've no dates like that but as it turns out, it seems that I'm one of those dates who's for keeps! Well, I guess for the fact that I'm single, it's "their" (whoever???unknown!) loss, and my gain (freedom, that is! Muah ha ha). Wah! Seems that I'm capable of giving a lifetime of rock-solid love!

I'm sure not looking at Malaysian men and the feeling must be mutual. Guess Malaysian men aren't looking for "cute packages" like me . Whenever us girls gather and we have some time to kill, we always end up looking at the Malaysian men around us. No, not the ones like Cleo's 2006 "50 Most Eligible Bachelors". Even some of the ones on that list are questionable, meaning "not worthy" of being on the list in the first place, while some are not eligible bachelors to us girls as they are probably gay. Us girls usually end up being very amused just by looking at the lack of quality men around us. I remember one of those times when we had just finished our lunch and observation of the men and was driving back on the road. Lo and behold, there was this man in his 40's, normal looking, just standing by the road side (presumably, waiting to cross the road). My car was approaching him and we could all see that he was vigorously digging his nose from about 30 feet away and he was still at it after the car passed him by. We all said an unanimous "Eeeeeewwwwwwww" and then laughed our heads off for the next 5 minutes! This started us on the topic about men who keep long fingernails on their pinkies for that purpose! Eeeeewwwww!
Back to cute - when I was in Japan, I got to experience an E-com ride in Toyota City Showcase in Odaiba. For 200 yen, I was taken around the vicinity of the HQ, indoor and outdoor in a cute computer guided electric E-com car. All one had to do, was just sit back and relax. We were told not to touch any buttons except for "Start", even unbuckling the seat belt would cause the car to come to a stop! It steers, accelerates and brakes on its own! The E-com car comes in many colours and is a work of art, each one being different and unique. The simplest one was this one above on display. If they sold the car here, I would probably be driving around in one!
The cute package - car not included!

Live, Love and Laugh

It was a day full of activities today. After church, I joined the Mahs for lunch but was delayed. When I reached their house, I was informed some visitors would be dropping by to see Mrs M, some visitors that I wouldn't want to meet. WH and I then went off rounding to kill time and by the time the visitors left, it was about near to 4pm. I was so hungry I could eat a horse (on normal days, it would be a pony!). We then left to see Mr M in the hospital. We had a tough time coaxing him to eat, he said it didn't matter whether he did or not, things are not going to change. You see, Mr M has been diagnosed with lung cancer, and since, his mentality is of a kid (due to an accident about 6 years ago. He had to be persuaded and when that failed, scolded and then threatened before he ate his dinner. I looked at his chart, Mr M is just 43kgs!

Sometimes I do wonder, Mrs M has been through so much, having 5 kids. Having to be the sole bread winner since Mr M could not work anymore after the accident. She did all sorts of work, selling hawker food, tailoring clothes, making cookies, washing houses and clothes. All these to bring her kids up, it's a hard life indeed. Then she was diagnosed with cancer back in 2002, it was in a very early stage though. Miraculously, it's seems to have gone into remission and she is okay now. Her kids started to work, and things were starting to look up for her. Then, Mr M gets admitted into the hospital. She prays fervently and is a faithful servant to God. I can only tell myself that all these are God's test of her faith and that she will be rewarded in time. As for me, I tell myself that I'm indeed blessed to have what I have. Are we thankful? If so, what are we thankful for and what are we not thankful for? I'm thankful for my awareness, awareness of cherishing loved ones and appreciating the little and no so little things in life. I'm not thankful for the suffering that I see in others though I know deep down, all things happen for a reason.

We then came back to the Mah's house where I crashed out and fell asleep, waking up at about 7 plus when SY told me that E was back from Sitiawan and in the house, after being there for a week. She was in HK when she got a call informing her of her dad's demise. She flew back and took a bus from Puduraya last Sunday. I murmured something and fell asleep again, waking up at a quarter past 8. We then went to Asia Cafe and then to the 100 yen store! Ha ha ha .... It always lead me back to the store. I didn't buy anything but the rest of them did. I then sent E home back to Bkt Jelutong which I always get mixed up with Bukit Beruntung. This reminds me of the Ah Long Bkt Beruntung song by Adflin Shauki and his friend during one of the short sketches in AH-HA. It's hilarious, I've loaded it up here for you all to enjoy. Well, good night and to all of you out there, live, love and laugh...
