After having gone on several mini trips to Ipoh for food and had several curry noodles HERE and HERE that could not match the one I had many eons ago. I had no recollection where it was, that is....till now! YAY! When an old friend came visiting and mentioned about making a short trip to Ipoh and bringing me back to this place for the curry noodles, I just had to go!
Yes, it was a day trip to Ipoh that we had embarked on. We had a mission - To eat and to transport a certain VIP back to Kuala Lumpur! Starting early morning, we went straight for the jugular - curry noodles at Chuan Fatt! I didn't recall the place having ceiling high shiny light green tiles but the stall in front of the shoplot was exactly the same as it was before when I was here more than 10 years ago.

I found it! I found it at last - by far the best curry noodles I've tasted in Ipoh, right here in Chuan Fatt. Of course, different strokes for different folks as there are quite a number of eateries serving their own version that have their own legion of fans I'm sure :o). Here you can pick your toppings, mine was shredded chicken, char siew, roast pork siew yoke and pork rind. The soup had the right amount of spice, not too thick and somehow the whole ensemble just hit a home run with all of us. Do bear in mind that curry noodles in Ipoh is different from the more coconut milk laden soup version in Klang Valley.
Top it up with some crispy deep fried chicken wings on the side - essential munchies when eating curry noodles here. Hahaha.... (Oh, the Ice Coffee a.k.a Kopi Ping is good too)

After picking up the "precious" cargo, it was soon time for tea. Now, we wanted sometime light and they wanted Roti Canai! I was not expecting much but when we arrived at Restaurant GoodShed, I was charmed by this little place. This has been one of their favourite place for
Roti Canai and
Teh Tarik for decades!
GoodShed; cosy homely feeling and with a wide open area, it's a partly wooden/tiled house - giving one the impression of eating in someone's house!
Roti Canai - The making of the flat bread
The Roti Bawang (onions) I had came with a lovely shade of golden brown. Done just right and spot on. The whiff of onions was aromatic and the flat bread was crispy and tasty. The gravy's at room temperature though, would have preferred it to be warm. But of course a meal like this would only be complete with ....

Teh tarik! Lovely silky smooth texture...plus points again. Can't find places like Good Shed in Klang Valley anymore. Eating here really reflects the easy going life of people in Ipoh. No hollering and where everybody knows your name (well, not mine but my friends'...hahaha).
