Cruising Along, Singing A Song...

It has been a crazy week - spring cleaning my place (still Work In Progress), Mrs Pitt's arrival, work ... but play must go on :o) Just before the madness went on again, I had a wonderful weekend break. I had done this in the past and enjoyed the experience but this time round was different. No competition but plain relaxation! Yes, it's back to the Royal Selangor Yacht Club, cruising aboard Baby Tonga.

This is one place I keep going back to, each and everytime I visit San Francisco .... without fail! What keeps me coming back here?

R & G Signature Dish - Salt & Pepper Crab

With that said....that's it! Just come here for the Salt & Pepper Crab 'cos R & G dishes up such a wicked style of it and you probably won't be able to find that "yum" anywhere else. It's so good that it deserves your whole hearted attention!

Battered and deep fried - I have never tasted such a delicious crustacean before. The mix of Salt & Pepper seasoning makes me want to devour it entirely (yes, shell and all!) if I could. This dish definitely delivers a 10 finger licking and lip smacking goodness (I can go on and on...hahaha). I actually sit here for a couple of hours as I slowly enjoy every single moment of it .... from cracking the shells, digging into the fresh plump flesh and licking the shells clean till it's almost devoid of the fried batter.

How plump? Check out the size of the shell! Take note that as with most crab dishes, there is no fix price on the menu as it follows market price. One crab is between USD30-40. It's oh...so worth it!

Sailing On A Sunday

A couple of months back, I grabbed the opportunity to go out to the sea to catch some sailing action at the Royal Selangor Yacht Club. I was contented to be a spectator while the rest participated in a sailboat race.

I went out on a keelboat and followed John who had the task of setting the race course.

We sailed pass a kelong and there were a number of fishing enthusiasts trying to get their catch of the day.

Once we sailed out to the right spot, we would anchor the boat.

Signal flags would be put up to instruct the teams; different flags had different meanings. Here are some examples and rules of racing.

Sound signals are made to denote the start of the race and to draw attention to the teams of the changing of signal flags; twice for signal flags raised and once for signal flags lowered.

Then while the race is in progress, John, his crew and I sat around to watch and wait.
At this point, John whips out his nice looking Australian hat and starts puffing on a pipe, making him look very much the part of a Skipper! :o)

Here are some pics of some sailboats in action that I managed to take with my little camera.

We started around 2 p.m. and it was windy and cloudy during the course of the race. When the teams finished racing at about 5 p.m plus, we headed back to the club where the teams got together for the official announcement of the results admist beer, food and more beer! Hahaha....

I certainly enjoyed myself that day and learnt a bit about sailboat racing. What a perfect Sunday it was! :o)
