More Home Cooked Food!

Well Chinese New Year is officially over and it's REALLY back to work this time round (though I'm probably dragging my feet...he he). So as all the celebratory lunches and dinners lessen (will always exist as us Malaysians usually find the slightest reason to celebrate with food!), here is the last post (I think) of a Chinese New Year meal from Czar's place again. She had another two rounds of dinner at her place, one pre Chinese New Year and one during.
She bought a box of Yee Sang and added a whole lot of other stuff of her own to it (adding some plum sauce of her own too).
We really needed a big plate for the Lo Hei. Failing to find one, we used a cake baking tray instead!
Wantans (before they were deep fried), they looked so cute, shaped like the Chinese New Year gold nuggets. Once cooked, the shape changes a bit.
Kung Pao Cuttlefish, a fave of mine as I like Sotong Rendam (chicken is commonly used for this style)
Another hot favourite, spicy Four Angle Beans with dried prawns.
Czar's delicious Indian Chicken dish (Varuval - thanks CH Teoh for the word) - love the spices!
Desserts were mixed fruits soaked in lemon juice
Czar's cousin's masterpiece, chocolate chip cookies! Looks like Famous Amos Cookies, don't they? Tasted nice too.
Czar bought and deep fried these mini (food always appear larger than life in my photos! Ha ha...) prawn rolls herself. These are dangerous! I normally take a handful of them and start munching away!

Okay, activities are back to the norm now...Mrs Pitt, we missed you during this Chinese New Year and I'm sure you missed the food, ha ha ha....Hopefully we'll see you soon! Here's wishing Prosperity to all for the rest of the year and more!

Safeguard The WWW For Children

Was asked by Melting Wok to help support a good cause. The "Safeguard the www for children" Project helps to protect children against pornograply.

It's not against such websites but is a simple request to all "adult site" webmasters.

"Please require a password-protected log in before allowing even free access to explicit adult content. We understand that selling porn is your business and we respect your right to make a legal living. But understand our legitimate concerns and work with us. You already have the “warning adult content” on your websites. Yet kids, who are not legal customers of your product, ignore the warning. So to prevent them from having direct access to explicit images, texts and sounds, the simplest way is to have a password-protected log in. No more “free tours” before a visitor supplies basic information."

For those who would like to show your support too, kindly post a similar message in your blog. Make this world a safer and a better place...let's do our part!

While we try to teach our children all about life,
Our children teach us what life is all about.

Wantan Mee, Section 17 Petaling Jaya (Non-Halal)

After reading Masak-Masak's post on wantan mee from K.Intan in Section 17 (Jalan 17/10), I thought I should go through my photos and post on wantan mee from this place and at another coffee shop too, both located at Sec 17.
My bro actually ordered Bak Kut Teh here. Since I'm not a fan of chunky pork, I had a taste of the soup and found it a bit diluted. I had better luck with the wantan mee; I like the wantan noodles here (it comes with small bits of crispy lard!). However I can't say the same for the char siew and wantan that came with it (just as Boo-licious concluded in her post). If I'm in the mood for some good noodles, I'll look for this place.
However if I'm in the mood for some nice wantan, I'll go over to Wah Cheong at Jalan 17/29. It's located at the same row as Caring Pharmacy and SBB Bank (CIMB).
What I like about this place is that I can opt for other things to go with my wantan noodles. They have mushroom and chicken feet, poached chicken, sui kow (meat dumplings), char siew (bbq pork) and of course the wantan. I usually order mushrooms together with shredded chicken and a large bowl of wantan to be shared by the few of us. The wantan here is nice and sweet as there are bits of carrots in it. Sweet memories again, as this was my dear ol' dad's favourite wantan too after we moved up here from KL.
Apart from the usual dry or soup noodles that one can order, they also have curry which is not too bad. I like this place not only for its wantan but also for the fact that I can have my choice of soup for the noodles.
I have not taken any photos of another wantan mee stall, located at the other corner (the corner nearer to the bank) from Wah Cheong. What's different from the rest is that they serve Spicy Wantan Noodles which is on the sweet side. I might blog on this one day (it's just that I keep going back to Wah Cheong each time I'm in this area!).
