FHM 2007-Culinaire Malaysia 2007 Pt. 3 - Final

So, here's the final part to the FHM exhibit that I went to recently. Apart from sampling and tasting all the wonderful food, I was fascinated by the Barista Coffee section for a few reasons. I simply love coffee and what more when the 2007 World Latte Art Champion , Jack Hanna (all the way from Sydney!) was brought in by Barista Coffee to show us his skills while making coffee for us.

Doing Latte Art freehand is the hardest to master but Jack Hanna does it with such ease.

A closer look at the completed Latte Art. It's just too lovely to drink!

Of course, this section was also interesting because Jack Hanna is such a cutie, even more so in person! I'm sure his coffee will always taste good to me no matter what! Hahaha...read more about him and his journey to becoming the world champion HERE.

The other interesting area was where the cake displays were. This section was opened to the public for just RM5 entrance fee.

In my opinion, these were the few notable ones among the sea of masterpieces....

Found this so cute and nice, an alien chess set! This was one of Teckiee's favourite too. It is so apt as a Halloween cake too! Haha....

A closer look at how this cake was intricately made. Such details! Wonder how they manage to stack the rest of the tiers on top since this section was hollow....

Here's one for any Chinese auspicious event!

This cake is made by the same chef as the white cake above. He seems to have a liking for dragons.

Here's a different one with dragons, I find these cakes with dragons fascinating too. (Note the blur background; the red, black and white mask).

I'm looking forward to FHM 2009, what an event this was. By the way, I'll be off to Hanoi tomorrow but do continue to leave your comments though it may not appear yet as they'll still be moderated. Till then, see you all next week!

Art is your emotions flowing in a river of imagination.

Heehee, Jack sure is a gorgeous barista *winks* So where does he work again?

Is there any championship award for the cake display? I wonder how long it takes for them to decorate the cakes, let alone baked them.

judy : How? Freehand...a technique of pouring the milk. Yes, a cutie :D

hillary : Don't mention it...no worries. Glad you liked the pic.

christy : Thanks...I had fun taking the pics too.

bbo: Hahaha.... ;o)

babe_kl : Yup, the cake was awesome. Ok, hang in there for travel pics.

xlb : You got your CSB...hehe! But Jack is cute hor? :o)

teckiee : Oh yes indeed, who better to be on the main page while I'm away? Hahaha

Precious P : Yes...no matter how much we enjoy ourselves on holidays, we are always glad to be back home, right? :o)

Jason : Not next year...have to wait till 2009.

Daphne : Oh yeah, it was quite an event. Hope you are able to catch it next time. Thanks, I enjoyed my holidays.

durianberry : I'm seeking the same answer too, it's incredible. Yes, both the latte and Jack are nice ;o)

team bsg : No, not a replacement but an ADDITION! LOL...he doesn't have small hands...he's got long slender fingers.

kok : As the movie for Ratatouille goes! Anyone can cook, so in this case, anyone can latte! Do not doubt yourself (until proven...LOL!)

ethan : In another 2 years' time, you might already be in the F&B industry, no need to smuggle lah.

marias23 : Apparently he runs his own business in Sydney. A reason to travel there... :o)

wonda : Yes, it was a competition but I'm not sure of the results. For the master chef, probably a day; for mere mortals like me....a lifetime. LOL!

RM : Yes, I would like to try my hand at it too...very interesting.

meiyen : If everything is as it was, the next one would be in 2009, not next year. So must set "alarm"

Nkotb : I suppose it's on such a grand scale and the KLCC Convention Centre is the best venue for this.

kampungboycitygal : Aiyah, your kampung boy also cute mah.... ;D

Food & Hotel Asia is being held in Singapore this year.

I would really love to go for one of these. My food & beverage lecturer was telling me how great FHA and FHM is, but he sternly told us "don't dream of taking leave from school to go down there".

What a way to dash dreams :(

wmw said...

Let's hope you manage to go there somehow, someway when it's held here next year (hopefully!).
