Friday Quick Bites - Mille Danish from Free Mori

Free Mori, the latest name to hit the local bakery scene originated from Taiwan and has actually been around for 3 decades.  I patronise the outlet in SS2; the others are in Publika, Damansara Uptown, Shah Alam (google and check whether there's one near you as they are opening new outlets around the Klang Valley).  It's one of my latest hang out as they also serve coffee, tea and a special blend of fruit juices.  I enjoy sitting in the store, surrounded by all the lovely pastries, cookies and cakes.  Free Mori also market their cookies in lovely tin boxes which are great as gifts or even for your very own tin collection.  They also have a range of other things like coasters, cups etc. etc. for sale.

Free Mori range of pastries are rather unique and one of my fave is the Mille Danish (RM4).  While it has been reported that there are 16 layers to it, there seems to be more as I eat the Mille Danish layer by layer in between sips of my coffee.  I had attempted to keep count of the layers but somehow I always wind up losing count as enjoyment takes over the task.  I just end up smiling to myself with such contentment that it doesn't matter anymore! Hahaha.... The Mille Danish's light pastry and buttery taste is sheer enjoyment at the simplest level yet made complex with all those layers.  You know what they say...life is best enjoyed when one stops thinking and start living, so I stop counting ;o)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Their Cheese Lover bread is good too. Oh, and the long white breadstick with black sesame cream filling is kinda special too. Haven't tried the cakes though...hehe
