Eating @ The Grand, Ottawa

And now back to my Canadian post for awhile.  Continuing from the previous Canadian post where I highlighted some sights, let's take a look at our dinner that we had in Ottawa on the first night.  After walking up and down the streets for awhile, we finally made up our mind to dine at The Grand, settling for something Italian.

The Grand, Ottawa
The Grand's brick building is lovely to look at and does have some grandeur to it.  It was packed and we had to wait a while before we got our table, sitting outside.  We enjoyed the fresh air and cool temperature and I didn't really get a chance to take photos of the interior. When I did go in to go to the washroom, I came across this ...

The Grand
I just love looking at the photos on the wall ... it evokes a very nice and warm feeling

Bread! Bread! Bread!
Of course the complimentary bread basket was brought before us and while the food took quite some time to arrive, we enjoyed the soft bread - dipping it into the balsamic vinegar & olive oil.  We were famished, thanks goodness we had the bread to munch on first.

Sure Pizza's Desserts @ Hartamas Shopping Centre Kuala Lumpur

I just came back from dinner and had a lovely dessert. Sitting here and thinking where else would I go to if I wanted desserts (notice the plural word here! Hahaha), I thought of Sure Pizza in Hartamas Shopping Centre. While as the name suggests, I never had the pizza here...but however, I have been here for desserts only on three occasions whenever I'm in the mood for something sweet and happen to be in this area. However, the last time I was here was around late last year and these photos were taken on my first trip there a long time ago (yeah, going through my archives again!).

Anyway, I can't say much about the pizza as I've not tried it before...but if you ever want some great desserts to end the night (or start the day!), hop in and give yourself a real "pick-me-up" with the Tiramisu here...

Tiramisu with RUM!

With two options...with or without alcohol, the one that we usually order is of course the one WITH! Hehehe....Look at the generous topping of cocoa powder! A sizeable portion is served (I think it's about RM20plus), not those that are served in a tiny sexy glass, so it can be shared. It's really one of those Tiramisu that falls into my category of "things that make you go Mmmmmm......" :P

Creme Brulee
The Creme Brulee is not too bad too, a tad sweet for me ....but it's the Tiramisu that I keep coming back for.

Sure Pizza - Interior
Maybe I should make it a point to try the pizzas here too....but one thing's for sure, whenever I step into Sure Pizza, Tiramisu with the "works" is definitely a must order for me! ..... *hic* :o)

Michelangelo's @ SOHO KL, Solaris Mont Kiara

D
igging back the archives not too long ago, the one with the handbag and the one with the bracelet called me out for dinner. It has been awhile since we caught up with each other and though the journey to Solaris was "memorable" for other reasons (it rained the whole day and the traffic jam was horrendous!), we made ourselves feel better with food!

Solaris Mont Kiara has been "invaded" with quite a number of promising restaurants nestled in an area, SOHO KL. It had been rather deserted when I had gone there previously about 5 months ago but it was a hive of activity when I went there again a month back.

They decided on doing dinner in Michelangelo's and I had just had my fair share of pasta from Italiannies' new line up just the day before. I knew I just couldn't take pasta again and wondered if I could find something that would be different and interesting at the same time.

Insalata Cesare
The one with the handbag was her usual health conscious self and went with Insalata Cesare (RM17.90)- Ceasar's Salad! No croutons but larger slices of toasted baguette with pestos sauce. The romaine lettuce was fresh and she seemed to really enjoy her salad! I personally felt that the portion should have been bigger though.
