Michelangelo's @ SOHO KL, Solaris Mont Kiara

D
igging back the archives not too long ago, the one with the handbag and the one with the bracelet called me out for dinner. It has been awhile since we caught up with each other and though the journey to Solaris was "memorable" for other reasons (it rained the whole day and the traffic jam was horrendous!), we made ourselves feel better with food!

Solaris Mont Kiara has been "invaded" with quite a number of promising restaurants nestled in an area, SOHO KL. It had been rather deserted when I had gone there previously about 5 months ago but it was a hive of activity when I went there again a month back.

They decided on doing dinner in Michelangelo's and I had just had my fair share of pasta from Italiannies' new line up just the day before. I knew I just couldn't take pasta again and wondered if I could find something that would be different and interesting at the same time.

Michelangelo's
Michelangelo's Creation of Adam

Insalata Cesare
The one with the handbag was her usual health conscious self and went with Insalata Cesare (RM17.90)- Ceasar's Salad! No croutons but larger slices of toasted baguette with pestos sauce. The romaine lettuce was fresh and she seemed to really enjoy her salad! I personally felt that the portion should have been bigger though.

Spaghetti Aglio Olio
The one with the bracelet wanted something simple and ordered the Spaghetti Aglio Olio (RM18.90). The spaghetti was al-dente but tasted average overall....well, she did get what she want ;p

Con Funghi
We also ordered Con Funghi - Mushroom Pizza (RM24.90) and enjoyed its thin crust. Whilst I found the cheese topping adequate, they were not generous enough with the mushroom topping (which happens to be one of my favourite food). My vote for favourite pizza though would be Chicken Fajita from Canadian Pizza, it's easy to indulge in one as it's just a phone call away).

Polla ala Marsala
My Pollo ala Marsala (RM35.90) was just what I was looking for; meat. Chicken breast meat infused with Marsala wine and a slight sourish sweet gravy with prunes. It was a first for me, having chicken with prunes and I was pleasantly surprised that the combo worked well. Well enough for me to think of cooking my own version of chicken with prunes!

Of course though we were full, no meal is complete without desserts ;o)...

Torta di Cioccolata
Torta di Cioccolata (RM15.90)- Molten Lava Choc Cake ....Good but FBB's similar version (Flourless Chocolate Cake with molten centre) that I had the privilege to try was better than Michelangelo's version.
Tiramisu
The Tiramisu (RM15.90) didn't fare as well as I thought it would. Nevertheless, it was quite good but I found something still lacking which I couldn't quite put my finger on. There isn't an overkill of mascarpone cream and its sweetness was spot on for me but I felt that it was not moist enough.

The ambiance is nice (I like the high ceiling) but the service was somewhat lacking with futile attempts at getting the staff's attention time and time again making us somewhat exasperated. I will be visiting here again in time and hope service changes for the better to improve the overall dining experience.

Chicken and prunes, what an interesting combo indeed! I might second Precious Pea's request for thigh meat too - I'm a recent convert from breast meat!

Read that they're having Guiness promotion now. Free a small pint of Guiness with an order of main.

saw this restaurant at kennysia's. Was even there (SohoKL) last weekend but didn't try it. Seems like the food isn't too great for the rather hefty price tag. The restaurant's environment is one of the nicest around there though

Thanks for sharing. Nice photos! To me, taste is my priority when it comes to food, not the looks. Plus, the portion is too small to fill me in. So, I think I will give a skip on Michelangelo.

Thanks so much for this! Unlike most bloggers, you actually give the restaurant's contact details and opening hours and stuff, for which I'm immensely grateful! Keep up the good work :-)

Incredible place!
Where your reservation will be handle by a professional language expert trained expatriate. You are able to learn the meaning of patient in giving your details in the process and you might also able to explore your creativity in forming new English that no one heard before.
You’re ought to be grateful if you humorously ask to talk to someone else who can speak your first, second, third, fourth, fifth or even your native language to ask some simple question, such as preparing a place of your desire. You will have their surety to be satisfy by their attentiveness of calling your back when – never.
The food was phenomenon! The lasagna were priceless as it was magically lure warm at the outside, and burning hot in the inside. It leaves you a long memorable burning sensation on your tongue and throat from the state of the art cooking via microwave, with surprise for a long.. long.. time.
The services were terrific! There will be well trained expatriate comes to you to ask of your delighted. They will always set you as the priority when if you’re a Caucasian, to serve you first; Will not hesitate to conveniently drop any conversation and turn away half way to the others of their request, and not return to attend to them, non-Caucasian’s need. Making customer satisfaction top priority.
Fabulous place, will recommend to lemon lovers.
