Yummy Treats @ Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur

What's this? Look at the folks, closely hovering over the stall. Why is this stall surrounded by folks who all seem very eager and anxious at the same time? Eager as one can get their hands on one of the better nyonya kuihs sold in Klang Valley and anxious (just like how EatingAsia felt) as they don't know whether there is still any left when it's their turn! Hahaha....

At times, there would be some waiting even before Ah Mun arrives, immediately surrounding him as he sets up his stall. He's been doing this for more than two decades, setting up his stall just outside Nam Chuan Coffeeshop in Lorong Ara Kiri 2, Lucky Gardens.

So, apart from going to Nam Chuan for my fave Sarawak Laksa, Abacus Seeds and Char Kway Teow, I will usually make a pit stop here too if I'm in lingering in the area as the kuih stall opens at around 3pm till all is sold out....which can be within two hours on a good day!

Kuih Stall
There's a rather wide variety of kuihs here as you can see. Gosh! What should I get? Such a dilemma! Hahaha....that's the usual thought running through my mind every single time I'm here as it's a rather tough decision with all the goodies right in front of you.

Ondeh-ondeh
There's my fave ondeh-ondeh .... While googling this, I found out that the famous FatBoyBakes actually made ondeh-ondeh back in 2005, here's his post with recipe included!

BBQ Buffet @ Pick n' Brew Glenmarie, Shah Alam

Pick n' Brew Glenmarie recently started running a BBQ Buffet every first Friday of the month. Having missed the first round in May, I made it a point to drop by to check out this fiery deal in June which is at a reasonable price of RM40+/pax.

This Glenmarie outlet is different from the one in 1 Utama as it's located within the Wisma CNI building. It's definitely cosier and I prefer coming here (if only it was nearer though, so I still end up going to the outlet in 1 Utama more often than not). Check out my post on Pick n' Brew in Glenmarie HERE and I'm sure you'll know what I mean.

Here are some of the pics of the food I chomped on! There were quite a number of dishes I didn't eat as I was too full. Hahaha....

BBQ! BBQ! BBQ!
Lots of hot action going on at the outdoor area .... Yummy Lamb Brochettes being barbequed. They have a variety of sauces for all the different type of meats that they have. I ate my favourite lamb the most and a bit of the chicken & beef! They have also placed other warm food in this area too; pasta, flavoured rice, vegetables to name a few.

Meanwhile on the inside of Pick n' Brew...other goodies are laid out. These are Assorted Bean Salad.

Subak @ Bukit Lanjan, Kuala Lumpur

As I was saying in my previous post on Bora Asmara, "I don't mind coming back here (Bora Asrama) to chill if one is looking for a nice ambiance amidst a busy part of town. Oh well, there's also Subak...(that will be in a different post!)".

Well, I'll do just that...let's see what Subak has to offer! Subak is a turn off to the right at the traffic lights where if one goes straight and under the flyover, one would head towards Bora Asrama. I arrived at Subak with Moo & Buddy at around 7.30 and looks like I had almost lost whatever little sunlight I had by that time. So, photo taking was a bit tricky and some shots are a bit blur, thank goodness I had a little bit of help from the lighting there.

Subak @ Bukit Lanjan

The staff here is attentive and friendly, ushering us along to the inner part of the restaurant. I noticed that it isn't as big as Bora Asmara, having lesser tables but the ambiance here is nicer though. I'm not sure whether it was that dark that I had missed a page but I found the Asian & Western menu line up less extensive as Bora Asmara. For drinks, we ordered smoothies which I didn't take a pic of but the mango and mix berries smoothies we had were refreshingly nice but I would have preferred it to be a bit thicker.

Having read up on several blogs earlier, I ordered my favourite soto, "Pak Ajelan's Balinese Style Chicken Soto" (RM10/USD2.80). I wasn't that hungry and longed for some soupy stuff as I was also a little under the weather. I absolutely loved the soto - compressed rice, vegetables, shredded chicken with a lovely begedil (potato cutlets) in thick chicken consomme that packs a punch. A tad salty for my friends who just tasted the soup on its own though. Eat and drink this wonderful little bowl up (yes, finish the spicy soy-chilli too!). Lip smacking goodness....

Bora Asmara @ Kampung Sg Penchala Kuala Lumpur

When our fabulous dance teacher announced that she wanted to give us girls a treat and at the same time celebrate JC's birthday, we looked forward to the outing. However, when I found out that she had wanted to take us to the Balinese themed Bora Asmara, I wasn't that excited - Bora Asmara had been getting quite a number of negative reviews. That was the reason why some of us floggers never paid the place a visit. However, I told myself that I shall not bother much about the food but rather enjoy the gathering with a bunch of people whose company I enjoy and will still enjoy where ever we may be.

After travelling there convoy style (to ensure we don't get lost), we arrived at Bora Asmara and we were greeted as soon as we walked through the doors. Having made reservations earlier for the 14 of us, we were ushered into an indoor section (which seemed more private than another indoor building nearby) and luckily for us, we had the whole place to ourselves! Of course there is a large outdoor area (gazebo) for people to dine and chill under the stars. We were rather impressed at the lovely setting (all the while still bracing myself for the food experience that was about to come).

Ko Hyang Korean Country Delights @ The Gardens, Mid Valley City

I have not been blog hopping for quite awhile and have only kept up with what's new of late through friends (food bloggers and non food bloggers). When I was told that Masak-Masak had blogged on a Korean eatery which has been garnering good reviews, I knew I had to pay them a visit at The Gardens, Mid Valley City.

After some shopping one day, it was time to fill our stomachs and I remembered this time (at times I do forget!) to drop by Ko Hyang since Glorious Jade and I were already in the vicinity. It was a rather late lunch and we wanted a quick bite, which was good I suppose as that meant Ko Hyang wasn't as busy as it would be during the usual lunch hour. The menu wasn't that extensive which was understandable as Ko Hyang has a very simple set up. I saw a Korean lady there and I suppose she was the owner and she had quite a substantial number of staff helping her out in this small eatery. We promptly put in our orders and as usual the banchan was served to us first as we waited for our food to arrive.

There were just 3 varieties served and both of us enjoyed the Kimchi tremendously. Being the most common banchan served in every Korean restaurant I've been to, I would say that Ko Hyang's kimchi is the best I've tasted so far! We have eaten some that tend to be a tad sourish but Ko Hyang's Kim Chi was absolutely delish and the taste was spot on. Spicy and pungent enough without being too overwhelming, I guessed what made it that good was that the pickled cabbage served was smaller than usual. So, it was very flavourful.

Bulgogi
Next served was Bulgogi with rice (RM16.90). The sesame seed, onions, carrot and spring onions added more sweetness to this dish. Though the beef was quite well marinated, it would have been better if it had more gravy, a bit on the dry side for me.

Weekend Puppy Power X 7

I finally got a shot of all 7 puppies!!! Not as good as I wanted it to be but after all the hard work of keeping them together (with the help of Glorious Jade), I guess it's still quite an achievement for me to get them all in within the frame!

Puppy Power x 7
Phew! Glorious Jade and I were perspiring like crazy just from trying to keep all 7 on the bench! Note the second pup on the left - it has iodine on its nose as a sibling bit him during some rough play! Hence we named him Iodine!

Here's some of the other "Behind-The Scenes" takes!

Restoran Sai Gong, Kepong Kuala Lumpur

(NON-HALAL)

Sigh, it can be rather daunting when it comes to eating with the family. Dear ol' bro always expect me to suggest where to eat ... "You're the food blogger, you tell us where to eat...". So, I usually have to wreck my brain to come up with a name and after that...cross my fingers and cross my toes that the food is not gonna disappoint (or worse, that the restaurant won't be closed!). Seriously, sometimes I get so tired of eating out that I don't even know where to go!

As if it's not enough being subjected to that by my family, my friends throw that same line at me too...Yup! ..."You're the food blogger, you tell us where to eat..." What's worse...sometimes giving them a name isn't enough, I'll get a call when they are seated in the restaurant and they are calling me why? Because they want me to recommend what dishes to order! *FAINTS* Hahaha....Yes, the life of a food blogger can be rather taxing on the mind. So, it was on another one of those occasion when bro went ... "You're the food blogger, yada yada yada...." hahaha, and we ended up here.

We arrived rather late and the place was already packed to the brim, something I had expected after having read some blog posts about the place. We finally got a table after waiting for about 10 minutes and I told the family to expect to wait a while for the food to be served too. The staff who took our order had earlier gave us some recommendations and each of us put in an order of our choice.

Sis-in-law, the ever young, slim and healthy one put in a large order of Stir Fried Spinach (I think???) which we rather enjoyed...It was exceptionally "green" looking, fragrant and cooked just right. I enjoyed slurping up the vege gravy. Well, if it wasn't spinach, I enjoyed "whatever it was"...hahaha....

Attending 1st Food Blogger Wedding, KL Hilton

Over this Saturday weekend, a group of us food bloggers a.k.a. floggers attended our very first food blogger wedding held in KL Hilton. Lighting was rather dim...with romance in the air for the lovely couple and romance with the food for us floggers (but that meant some food shots turning out blur for me, hahaha...).
