Food Crawling into Wai Sik Kai, Pudu

Continuing to clear my very very backdated photos, the highlight is now on Wai Sik Kai, Pudu. We walked across to this place after our quick 3 dish meal at Sek Yuen earlier on.

Wai Sek Kai, Pudu

Deep Fried Chicken stall
First stop - Deep Fried Chicken
Deep Fried Chicken Feet
They fry all parts of the chicken here - look at this batch of chicken feet! Sorry, I didn't touch this but enjoyed watching those who ate this. The continuous action of spitting out those tiny little bone joints. Errr...what a sight!
Sotong Kangkung stall
The hanging sotong (cuttlefish) is the signature look of every sotong kangkung stall which usually also has plates of cockles on the menu too. Sigh! Makes me miss the stall in Malacca...
Sotong Kangkung
The sotong kangkung was just normal standard, I think the sauce was not thick and was too little. Need more crushed peanuts.
Chee Cheong Fun stall
My favourite stall of Wai Sik Kai. Being a Chee Cheong Fun (Rolled or flat rice noodles) fan, this stall attracted me like honey to a bee.
Curry Chee Cheong Fun
Yes, it was just me and this plate of Chee Cheong Fun with curry gravy. The world stopped turning and the music was just playing for the two of us. LOL! Topped with some pork rind, fried bits of dried prawns and sprinkled sesame seeds, I enjoyed this a lot. It was just simply delicious and I finished the curry gravy too, right to the very last drop!
Curry Rice Cake
The Chee Cheong Fun stall also serves steamed rice cake with curry gravy with the same toppings. This stall seems to be a hit with the floggers as we had quite a few varieties ordered from the same stall.
Yam Cake
Another item from that stall was Yam Cake, this time served with sweet black sauce. Both the curry gravy rice cake and the yam cake was nice but it was the curry chee cheong fun that took my heart away that night :o).
Fried Carrot Cake
Fried Carrot Cake...sorry after the Chee Cheong Fun, nothing much could make me stray. Haha.....This was okay to me.
Stuffed Fried Tofu
This took my attention away for awhile though ;o). The Stuffed Grilled Tofu (Tauhu Bakar) was pretty good. Stuffed with generous filling of shredded turnip and cucumber, the tasty dark sauce with prawn paste and adequate crushed peanuts made this hit with the floggers.
Ice Kacang
I realised Jason likes to order this quite often whenever the floggers go out. Ice Kacang must be his favourite dessert of all time. This was a colourful concoction! Should be right up his alley as I remember the Ice Kacang that I had in Ipoh (Jason's hometown) was one of almost psychedelic colour as mentioned by Boolicious in her comment to me but this one here from Wai Sik Kai takes the prize!

Looks like the floggers should have another revisit to Sek Yuen and Wai Sek Kai again. Posting this makes me crave for the Chee Cheong Fun! Hahaha... Read Jason's take on this outing HERE...don't believe the part when he said that I licked my plate of Chee Cheong Fun clean!!!

Glorious Jade : It's had to move on , but I know I need to...hence, other chee cheong fun stalls. LOL!

tigerfish : Can this be replicated over there? I'm sure you can whip it up!

Bernsy : Well, all the signs are telling you to take a trip to Pudu! Enjoy!

Daphne : Yah, goes to show that great tasting food need not have "great" prices.

jacelyn : Then maybe it's time for you to take a trip down memory lane :o)

teckiee : Hey girl! Back to Malaysian food mah....eat to your heart's content (but I would definitely think first only eat later! Hehehe).

How coincidental.
My family and god-family visited Sek Yuen and Wai Sik Kai just last week.

Unfortunately we had some bad timing while heading to Wai Sik Kai for afters. It was raining.

Will post up details soon.

Hazza : I read your first sentence with a straight face and then laughed out when i read the second sentence. hahaha...

C-rex : Can I call you that??? You know, like T-Rex??? :o) Anyway, sure thing but only if you are who I think you are!

wenching&esiong : Well, it tasted good, but on the other hand it might have been tastier as I was with the floggers; great company!

henry : Look forward to reading it...will check in on your blog.

wonda : I asked you many times leh but you never answer me. Do you plan to visit KL? If yes, when?

jason : Wah! You very dangerous. Cannot ask you to be witness on the stand 'cos you'll say whatever that will sound better rather than the truth. LOL!

paprika : Then we will have to break up to a few tables or have lesser of us floggers in attendance. But I think uncle will still be upset if we order the same old 3 dishes. Hahaha...

Precious P : Yes, it was lots of fun...great company and good food!

Having been living in Cheras and Pudu all my life up until 8 years ago, the curry chee cheong fun here was the most popular choice. I would get that every time I go there, probably since the day I could walk. I'm glad to see the stall thrive after so many years! How many generations is that, I wonder.
