Kitchen Creatures @ Centrepoint, Petaling Jaya

I noticed Kitchen Creatures had opened for business sometime back in mid December (not sure when it actually did). I finally paid a visit recently when I had lunch with Glorious Jade, hoping Kitchen Creatures will be running smoother by then (had read from earlier comments in other blogs about the usual gripe or two when a new restaurant starts its operations). With a simple three worded tagline, "No Frills Dining", did Kitchen Creatures deliver?

No Frills Dining
The view from where I sat ...they have seats out on the balcony too for those who like al-fresco dining (not at noon time with our hot Malaysian weather though!). The place is spacious and cosy while maintaining a simple layout. For more pics of Kitchen Creatures' interior, check out MissyCheerio's post.

Beef Stew
Beef Stew (RM6.80), double simmered in thick gravy. We enjoyed lapping up the delicious thick gravy which we guessed was a blend of potatoes, carrots and onions. However, though the beef cubes were tender, they were a tad lacking in beefy flavour. Overall, mighty good!

Baked Stuffed Mushrooms
When I saw Baked Stuffed Mushrooms (RM7.30) on the menu, I just had to order it since I absolutely adore mushrooms. Aren't they lovely?

Baked Stuffed Mushrooms
Stuffed with crabstick and shiitake flavoured cream cheese and baked, they were generous with the cream cheese which had just the right consistency, not too rich but definitely bursting with flavours. These mushrooms (portobello?) were delicious and had a pleasant aroma. I wished that they had dried the mushrooms more before baking it though as they exude quite a fair bit of water after being served. We tried to finish them as fast as we could.

Note : On leaving the premises, I realised that it was printed on the menu that it was a serving of 6 pieces but we were only given 5. Granted that this could be due to the fact that the mushrooms were larger in size, it would have been good if the staff inform the customers if it was so when they deliver the dish to the table. Otherwise omit the quantity info from the menu.

Spicy Aglio Olio With Shrimp
We ordered the Spicy Aglio Olio Spaghetti with Shrimp (RM12) to share. Garlic infused and with shiitake mushrooms and chilli flakes thrown in, Glorious Jade and I loved it. Definitely spicy and a palate pleaser, a good serving size too. Two thumbs up!

Burp!

Overall, we were satisfied and enjoyed the lunch as you can see ;o). While the prices for the food are reasonable (coupled with the fact that there's no service charge or government tax!), we found the drinks on the high side when compared with the food prices e.g. Ice Lemon Tea goes for RM6 (unless my bad eyesight is to be blamed). Pay an additional RM1.30 and one can get a starter plate of those yummy Baked Stuff Mushrooms, know what I mean? There's more to check out at Kitchen Creatures : burgers, steaks, pizza, grills, pies and salads. For those wondering if they have anything local, I remember seeing two items, one of which is Fried Rice served with chicken/beef kebab that goes for just RM8.

mushrooms can be abit of a prick to cook, the only way to get the water content out is to boil it, not too sure how u can bake it after that.

havent dropped by in awhile, hope all is well!
