A : When a friend cooks dinner for you and you alone!
That's what ML did for me recently when she insisted on cooking dinner though I told her that it would be easier to eat out since it was just the two of us. After getting home from work, she had dinner ready on the table by 8.30 when I arrived at her place. Well, sort of ready :o). You see, she timed it well to put the finishing touches to the dishes, serving the food piping hot - straight from the stove and onto the table.
I'm not reviewing her dishes here in this post of course. It was a meal cooked from the heart and that was what made dinner wonderful ;o). This is a post to thank you, ML!
First up ... Asparagus Soup
Though she said it was a tad dilute, I found it delicious nevertheless
Next ... Stir Fried Asparagus with Prawns (which was why she made Asparagus Soup). Simple and yet so tasty!
The highlight was the Thai Beef Curry...it was spicy and a spicy food lover like me absolutely loved it! The sliced beef was the right size (not too big) and tender, the eggplant was great too. And the gravy? I loved the gravy so much that I ended up having more rice that I should! hahaha....Even ML who isn't a rice eater herself couldn't resist having some on her plate!
After chowing down on these dishes, there was still dessert in store. Nothing fancy, ML said.
She heated the apricots over the stove....once it was warm, she proceeded to make a slit in the apricots.
She then took some ricotta cream and put a dollop in it. Looking at the apricot in her hand, she decided that she didn't put enough cream into the first one she did and the two of us ended up stuffing the rest of the apricots with much more ricotta cream and proceeded to eat dessert right there in the kitchen - from our hands and straight into our mouths! The warm apricot coupled with the cold ricotta cream was really heavenly, making my palate dance in delight ;o)
ML, thanks for a wonderful meal - a meal from the heart which I call a "hearty" meal! Had a great time catching up too. See you soon!
