Modus Operandi @ Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant,The Gardens Mid Valley

(NON-HALAL)

Say what you want about this place ... overpriced, portions too little, seating arrangements too cramped, the place too pack etc. etc. I myself find it hard to communicate with the staff and resort to mostly pointing at the photos on the menu. Not because they find it baffling to comprehend me but it seems that most of the staff speaks Mandarin - a language that is not foreign to me but never could I make comprehensive sentences of it even if my life depended on it. This results in most of us similar folks being "stigmatised" as a "banana"...yellow on the outside and white on the inside!

Well, anyway .... where was I? Oh yes, say what you want (oops, I wanna break out into Texas' song) but I do enjoy coming back here time and time again for a particular dish. Whenever I want to dine in Fong Lye, this will be my modus operandi.

The place too pack?
Well, I make it a point to come here on a weekday during off-peak hours...

Plonked ourselves down on the comfy seats (ladies be careful coming here to dine when it's that time of the month! Hahaha...) and order my favourite Rose Bud Oolong Tea...

Portion too little?
I have not encountered such an experience. I will usually order my favourite dish .... Stir Fried Beef with Spring Onions & Ginger. I find the portion here big enough for two!

Stir Fried Beef With Spring Onions and Ginger
Slices of beef with generous amount of spring onions (I likey!), flavourful and tender!

Minced Pork on steamed rice

It comes with some side dishes and a bowl of steamed rice with minced pork topping and since I usually share this beef set, we'll order another bowl of rice (yes, it comes with the minced pork topping)

Of course, since we shared the main meal - it can only mean that we have room for dessert but then, there's always room for desserts, isn't there? ;o)

Peanut Snow Mountain
I love eating the Peanut Snow Mountain dessert slowly...enjoying the stream of sweetened creamer that covers the "mountain" and the fine shaved ice. Right now with the current heatwave, isn't this a sight for sore eyes?

Now, this is what I call a happy meal ... :o)
And we live happily ever after .... Hahahaha...(deliriously happy!)

I dunno bout this, for my experiences at Fong Lye were far from positive. Hmm ...

Still remember we nearly created a scene when they did not accept (I think they still don't) credit cards!

Wow, that stir fried beef with spring onions looks delicious! It is a big portion - I probably wouldn't get through it all, but I'd try!
