I'm Not A Chef, Kota Damansara

I'm Not A Chef  (INAC) is one of those places that I frequent as I drop by now and then when I wanna wind down for the night. You might even find me helping out there, hehehe.... That is because INAC is run by two people; Nat and Stef.  It's an incredible task that Nat (the one who is a chef but yet not a chef!) and Stef (does everything else except the cooking!) go through daily from 10 a.m. till 9 p.m. except their rest day which is on Sundays.

Colours

Regulars would end up lending a hand or just wait patiently (during peak lunch hour) for their food to arrive. With reasonably priced and tasty Western/local food, it's a routine that the regulars willingly go through. This place is a favourite with students since it's within the vicinity of Segi University.  Actually, this is good and bad for INAC.  Good in the sense that there's a steady flow of diners. Bad in the sense that some of these student diners take advantage of the free wifi.  e.g. They come in a group of five and would only put in an order for two drinks and then they spend the next three to four hours or more on the internet! So, with this explanation, do note that there is a sign that states that each customer is required to have at least a minimum one drink order.

Corner

You can hardly catch a glimpse of Nat during lunch hour (she will be cooking at a furious pace in the kitchen!) and a busy Stef who is almost too pre-occupied to even breathe as she deals with the maddening lunch crowd order and demands. However, come non-peak period, you can find Nat and Stef chatting with the regulars.  For the rest of us who are at INAC for the food primarily, it's a cozy place where one can chill. Seriously,we make ourselves at home! To get a gist of what I mean, drop by INAC :o)

Here are pics of my favourite food from I'm Not A Chef ... Oh, I must mention that Nat does the desserts herself too!

Curry Leaf, Damansara Utama

In a dilemma...I write this post.  I feel that more folks should be dining here but yet would like to keep this place to myself. But good things must be shared, so share I must!  I am a fan of nasi briyani and when bro took me here sometime back, I had wondered why I had not made a visit to Curry Leaf before when it was so near to me all this time.  You know what they say...sometimes the very thing that you are looking for is the one thing you can't see! That's how I felt about Curry Leaf.  Just before this, I was telling my brother about the mediocre nasi briyani I had from a shop in Bangsar, where one was charged at a higher price if you were to sit in the air-conditioned section! The Nasi Briyani with Honey Chicken was about RM12.50 and yes, it was mediocre...yet people throng that place daily.

And here I was again, on a Sunday ... having my Briyani Mutton rice in the quiet Curry Leaf. A simple looking restaurant but with great food. This is a branch from the original restaurant located in Seremban and I'm glad they came to Damansara Uptown.  I only wished I knew about Curry Leaf sooner, I could have had more and better briyani rice!  Hahaha.... Anyway, there were about six tables taken but there were still ample empty tables.  I really can't understand why there weren't more customers.  My bro had his banana leaf rice while I gave my usual order.  I like to usually order a small plate of my vegetables - cabbage to go with my rice.

Vegetables
I love the aromatic spices they put in to stir fry the cabbage.  A great accompaniment for the briyani rice!

Briyani Mutton Rice
The lovely briyani rice comes in a little metal pot.  But don't scoff at that little pot as it holds a big serving actually. If one is really hungry, it will be no problem to finish it off but those with small appetite can probably share one, though I figure the best would be for 3 pax to share two pots of these.  There are several briyani variants; you have plain, egg, chicken, mutton, squid... It is served with some yogurt raita on the side.  Each rice grain is flavourful and the mutton is tender and cooked spot on! All this at a reasonable price of RM9! No more briyani elsewhere (for now...until I find one better!)! People oh people? Where are you oh people on a Sunday afternoon like this? Oooh, the pics here are taken with my new HTC One M8 by the way, I'm loving it!

Famous and Tasty Chicken Rice @ Restoran Yit Hin, Port Dickson

Life has been great and after having spent about 7 weeks in US, I have been busy catching up on Malaysian life.  Monkey Jr had just asked me the other day, to update my blog which prompted me to well, put up a post indeed; a food post.

Yit Hin Chicken Rice

I had taken a few short trips to Port Dickson with Moo on errand runs, simply to accompany Moo and Moo's promise to bring me around for food! Hahahaha...  Our first stop in Port Dickson town usually is Restoran Yit Hin.  It is a little stall located at a hawker center which used to be the Old Pasar, a wet market. Why is this usually our first stop? That's because demand exceeds supply daily and the chicken rice is usually sold out sometimes at lunch time itself.  I remember there was once the four of us had to share two plates of chicken rice as they were running out and this was around 1 plus pm.  So, what makes it so good?

Yit Hin Chicken Rice
Yit Hin Chicken Rice
Is it the way they lovingly and happily prepare the food?

Yit Hin Chicken Rice
Is it the secret sauce drizzled onto the chicken?
Is is the fragrant rice that is done just right?
Is it the corn fed chicken that makes the meat so tender?

That Familiar Feeling @ Restaurant Busy Corner, Damansara Jaya

(NON-HALAL)

Restoran Busy Corner has been around for some time; I remember my first visit to this place was when I was still living and working in Kuala Lumpur. That was back in the 90s!  Fast forward a couple of decades later, it's still one of the restaurants I head to now and then again, so much so you can say that I'm a regular ... just one of those places where I can eat comfortably as I'm familiar with the place and the lady boss herself :o)

Claypot Chicken Rice
I just love the raw onions, giving Busy Corner's claypot chicken rice (RM6.50 for a small serving, RM12 for large) an added oomph!  My fave order is the original (with or without the salted fish, depending on my mood); there're lots more variety to choose from - black pepper, red bean sauce and Thai. One can also choose to have black pepper steak rice or prawn instead of chicken.

Nasi Lemak Panas Yati & Suri - The Tale of Two Colours, Selera Jaya 223 Petaling Jaya

From croissants in Quebec, I'm gonna get back to something dear to most Malaysians' hearts, Nasi Lemak!  I've been going to Selera Jaya 223 at Jalan 223, Petaling Jaya for quite awhile whenever I need a Nasi Lemak panas (hot as in temperature hot!) fix and I bring my friends there whenever they are desperately seeking susan Nasi Lemak panas too. I think the place is open 24 hours (stalls open at different hours though).

However, I have to psych myself up before I head over there everytime.  No, not because I want to down 5 packets of nasi lemak (my personal best was a max of 3 packets) but the barrage of "food recommendations" from the vendors/helpers and "advice" on where to seat! They would greet you enthusiastically, giving you names like, "Mee goreng...Nasi Lemak...Roti Canai...Murtabak....Tom Yam...Ayam Goreng...etc etc....  Excuse me, but my name isn't Murtabak, okay? LOL!  They would also call out to you, "Kawan, duduk sini (Friend, sit here)", "Mari duduk sini, ada kipas (Come sit here, there's a fan)", "Duduk sini, semua sedap! (Sit here, all delicious!").  That's because each vendor has a demarcated area where they can serve, so income is dependent on where customers choose to sit.

Selera Jaya 223
I normally just make my way straight through, without looking left or right with NO eye contact and just zoom in on my favourite area which is around the middle (it's further away from the crowd in front area which is usually more concentrated.

The Red
Nasi Lemak Panas Yati.  Packets of Nasi Lemak panas, wrapped in banana leaves and plain paper are placed before you on a plate and are usually snapped up fast (if not by you, by other patrons around you).  They are never cold but warm and sometimes still hot as it's freshly packed on the spot.  At times, demand exceeds supply and we have to wait for the helpers to pack them.

The Blue
Nasi Lemak Panas Suri (I wonder if Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes know that somewhere in Malaysia, Suri is also famous for dishing out yummy Nasi Lemak?)

How To Eat Nasi Lemak @ Nasi Lemak Famous, Bangsar Kuala Lumpur

This was a while back when I followed Jason to Bangsar where we ate at Nasi Lemak Famous.  I was amused when he went through the process of getting ourselves a plate of this yummy delight as we joined the queue in the open air area...so while he was talking, I was taking photographs! :o)

Queue up and pick your dishes

Nasi Tumpang - The "Real Thing" from Kota Bahru or The Warung @ Midvalley

I've been eating at The Warung in Midvalley quite regularly as they consistently keep me happy with their Nasi Tumpang.  While not really being as authentic as the Nasi Tumpang that I first tried and fell in love with in Kota Bahru during my trip there back in 2007, it will have to do as I long as I'm hankering for Nasi Tumpang right here in Klang Valley.

Have a MAGGI Weekend!

Back in end March recently, I attended MAGGI's launch of their "Nasi Goreng ala Warung" range.  This new range of fried rice powder mix is designed to give a delectable wok taste and aroma - something that appeals to someone like me who likes a quick fix meal as it makes my meals a lot more convenient.  Having tried the samples on that day... I must say it's tasty.  The powder mix is MSG free and has low sodium content as MAGGI targets to give us a healthier and tastier option.

MAGGI's "Nasi Goreng Ala Warung" comes in six variants ....

MAGGI's Nasi Goreng ala Warung

Briyani, Padprik, Tomyam ...

MAGGI's Nasi Goreng ala Warung

Lada Hitam, Kampung and Cina.  I like the Nasi Goreng Kampung and Lada Hitam since I like spicy food.

Nasi Lemak, SS2 - Makcik Yan & Pakcik Wahab

ORIGINALLY POSTED 2 SEPTEMBER 2006

I am away from April 11-22. Jason has kindly offered to assist me in republishing some old posts (back at a time when only a handful of people read my blog. Hee hee hee...) for this period. Comments are still and always welcomed but I will only be able to reply when I get back after the 22. Thank you all!

While I was waiting in UMMC recently for my monthly eye check up, I sat next to a makcik and we both started chatting. Turns out that she, Makcik Yan, sells nasi lemak in my area, SS2 and she has been doing it for the past 30 years! She and her husband, Pakcik Wahab drops by the stall over the weekends which is usually operated daily by their 3 boys. She told me that her stall has quite a lot of customers and the best time to drop by was about 9am (opens from 7am till 10 plus am, close on Sundays). I was surprised as I didn't know of the stall and promised to try out her nasi lemak.

Arriving there on a Saturday, I was greeted with a long queue at her stall. It's located at the lane between BHP petrol station and the police station, at the end of the row of stalls (there are several nasi lemak stalls there. If in doubt, just look for the one with the long queue! Ha ha ha...)
This is not your restaurant type of eatery but one with zinc roof, cement rendered floor with plastic tables and chairs. Eating here reminded me of my childhood days when I used to follow mom and my dear ol' dad and eat at the old Bukit Bintang market which has made way for KL Plaza/Lot 10 donkey years ago. To further remind me of that, there is also a drink stall here operated by a Chinese auntie and an elderly man (he's around 80 years old, I think). He will take and deliver drink orders in his slow but orderly manner. Not that many drink stalls such as this type are operated by Chinese nowadays. Maybe they have been around for 30 years too. So, yeah, I felt like a kid again!
Makcik Yan was not around but Pakcik Wahab and his boys were expecting me to my surprise. Wonder what Makcik Yan told them! Well, the rice is scooped from the wooden container (a plus point for me - Makcik Yan had earlier told me that it costs about RM300) and the customers tell the boys what they would like from the array of deep tray dishes.
Well, apart from the fried chicken, almost everything else was spicy! I asked for sambal petai ("smelly" green beans with chilli) and sotong (cuttlefish). Lyn, who went with me, had beef rendang. Even if one is eating there, the food is served on the brown paper. Makcik Yan had told me that she had once tried changing to plates after starting out that way earlier. However, customers complained that it wasn't as nice and chicken pieces flew out easily from the small plate. Ha ha ha....So, they will hand you the rice in a cone shaped brown wrapper with a fork and spoon "planted" into it!
I tried to unwrap it gently to take a nice photo but messed up the presentation when I failed! Ha ha ha...But nevertheless, it tasted good.
I must say I do like the nasi lemak here. The sambal and rice is nice (not soft, but separate grains) and the beef rendang was tender (thanks Lyn for letting me steal some beef!). The sotong was good and easy to bite (not the rubbery type if you know what I mean). Our two packs came to RM8.80; didn't get a breakdown. Well, I now know where to look for good nasi lemak in PJ (I eat at Tang Lin's when I'm in KL). As a matter of fact, I had already gone back to eat again with my other friends.

My friends and I call nasi lemak "fatty rice" but that has never stopped me from eating it!

Kafe Bawang Merah, Subang

(Halal)

Having to go for an evening meeting at Sheraton Subang one day, Glorious Jade and I decided to go a bit earlier to beat the traffic jam. With an extra two hours to spare we decided to look for a place nearby for tea and headed to Kafe Bawang Merah (Red Onion Cafe) as we had heard of them serving up some tasty Indo/Malay cuisine.

Entering the place, it was already pretty filled up (saw a number of familiar faces; all with the same idea of having tea here before the meeting!) and it's quite a small setup. It's a dimly lit cosy albeit a busy place. Kafe Bawang Merah doesn't have any ala carte dishes but actually serves food ala canteen style. It's self-service, queue and point at the pre-cooked dishes on display.
Bawang Merah's Counter

Image00006-1
I forgot what Laksa this was that Glorious Jade ordered but I had a taste of the gravy and it was lovely. It came served with boiled egg and beef slices. The beef slices seemed a bit overcooked to me. Mmm....anyone knows what sort of Laksa this is??? Well, forget about proper food presentation here but it's the taste that matters here. Fuss free and tasty food at reasonable prices is what this place is all about and the crowd here is the testimony to that.
Soto Ayam
I had my Meehoon Mee Soto Ayam, a usual Malay favourite dish of mine. Beansprouts, little begedil (fried potato cutlets) and shredded chicken meat added delight to it. The soup was very flavourful and eaten with the wonderful dark sauce with minced chilli padi (bird's eye chilli), it was one tasty bowl of noodles I truly enjoyed tucking into.
Minced chilli and dark sauce
The dark sauce minced chilli mix that provided the "icing to the cake"!

Beef
I know this looks really oily but to be fair...this was actually the last bit left at the counter and since I love beef, I decided to take a chance and took the last order off them which was displayed in this plate itself (since there's so little left of it, it must be good, right?). I think this dish was Daging Masak Kunyit - beef that was cooked with onions and turmeric powder. Well, my verdict of this? It was really good stuff! The meat was tender and was marinated so well that the flavour was sealed in throughout each chunk of meat. Now, I only have to make sure that I drop by this place earlier if I don't want the pick up the last plate of meat that's soaking in oil!

Just when we thought we were done with our meal, something caught my eye. During tea time, Kafe Bawang Merah also serves an assortment of kuih. We wanted something savoury and ended up getting some of these...
Yam Cake
These Yam Cake were topped with generous bits of fried shallots, spring onions, cut chillies and minced dried prawns. They were so tasty, we actually ate them without adding any sauce at all.

Nowadays, I look forward to meetings held in Sheraton Subang as it gives me a chance to drop by Kafe Bawang Merah again for their no frills self-service food. However, when the crowd builds up, things can get a bit chaotic at the counter as the line gets "lost in transaction" and instead of "first come, first served", it becomes "whoever come, first served". However, one is well rewarded for their patience once you take a bite of their food :o).

Mama's Kitchen, Taman Tun Dr Ismail

(Non-Halal)

Mama's Kitchen has been around for quite awhile. My family would occasionally come here for dinner as we found the home cook style dishes quite good. However during our few recent visits, we found the dishes that we normally ordered to have "shrunk" in serving size. We ended up ordering more dishes and at the end of the day, paid more than we should for home cook dishes. Hence we decided that if we ever do dinner here again, we would just order noodles instead. And that is exactly what we did the next time we were here.
Image00217-1
First up is the Wantan Mee with Siew Yoke (Roasted Pork). The meat is fried with dark sauce, sugar and shallots and then added on top of the noodles. Mixed it up and you have some tasty noodles here. I find the meat here a bit too tough at times but on the other hand, I might have just been too spoilt as I love the siew yoke from Vintry.
Image00219-1
Singapore Fried Mee Hoon (Vermicelli). Good wok hei, I love crunching on the beansprouts.
Image00220-1
Fried Rice - pretty good. Love the additional bits of char siew (BBQ pork). However for better home cooked style fried rice with bits of lap cheong (chinese sausages), try Tua Huat at Sec. 19, Petaling Jaya.
Image00225-1
And then you have the Kong Nam Mee. I'm not sure why they call it that but I was introduced to this noodle when I was staying in Rawang for awhile. I had the best version there so far. At Mama's Kitchen, you get a pretty decent version. With the noodles deep fried till crispy, the gravy (which is cooked together with the babycorn, cauliflower, green bean, chicken and cuttlefish) is poured over it. Of course, why do I like this noodle in the first place is for the fact that they serve this noodle with slices of century egg. Yummy! My only grouse is that they only gave a few slices (I should bring some from home??? Hahaha...)

So, for some simple and tasty meal of noodles, one can go for a bite at Mama's Kitchen. It's located at Jalan Datuk Sulaiman (a few doors away from 18-20th Century and where Devi's Corner is nearby, at the corner....where else. Hahaha.....).

Marvelous Malacca - Part 1

Setting off early morning and having made a stopover in Seremban for the beef noodles, we arrived in Malacca almost noon time. We decided to check into The Baba House and found the place easily with YSF's navigation as she's a regular Malacca visitor. It's my first time staying here and I like this heritage house, transporting me back to the old days . That's how it is with Malacca when one is there, one feels like they have taken a step back in time. Thanks TML for doing the reservation! At RM95 a night, the room was simple, however, the RM25 for the extra bed YSF slept on has long passed its "shelf" life. The mattress was thin but on the other hand, one can't expect much. Would I come back and stay at The Baba House? I would as it's smack in the middle of town and it was so convenient getting around on foot. But don't get the extra bed! :o)

Oh, I got to see this colorful trishaw AGAIN! There were more during my earlier trip before.

After checking in and dropping off our bags, we decided to look for Hoe Kee to have chicken rice balls. Located nearby, we walked about 10 minutes and waited in line for our table.

4, Jalan Hang Jebat (Jonker St). 7.30am-4pm, closes last Wednesday of the month.
Image00027
I definitely enjoy the rice balls here at Hoe Kee as compared to Famosa Chicken Rice Ball. The rice balls here were more fragrant. You can taste the chicken stock with a slight hint of ginger and garlic. The chicken was tender and tasted good with the chilli sauce and thick soya sauce albeit the chilli sauce was a bit on the watery side.

For desserts, YSF said that she wanted to go to Donald & Lily's Corner for a bowl of Cendol. She told us that it was nice and simple and not too rich. Located about two blocks away, it didn't take us long before we treated ourselves to this cold icy treat.
Image00031
Behind No. 31, Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock (Tel No : 06-2848907)

There's actually a sitting area upstairs for those who order their food. For customers who are just having cendol, they can only sit at this one and only small table at the back of the stall (or stand around). I felt a bit uncomfortable and claustrophobic but the sun was out in full force and I didn't feel like getting burn that day.
Image00036
My view of the stall from where I sat.....
Image00032
I found the cendol pretty normal though the Gula Melaka (Palm sugar) was nice. I suppose all Gula Melaka, especially eaten in Melaka would be nice! :o) There were quite a number of people ordering the cendol; I suppose Donald & Lily have their own fans.

Airing Our Laundry - What A Riot!

With UnkaLeong being in town for two weeks, we got in touch and met up together with some other blogger friends of his and flogger friends too. First meet up was at Laundry Bar, The Curve. Was asked to join him and Sze of Jade(d) Poetry for drinks and he mentioned that Nigel might drop by. However, I was with another group of friends and decided to give it a miss.

Later, while I was at SS2 Pasar Malam I realised I had a couple of missed calls. Called back Nigel (asking me to go) and Lemongrass (telling me that she was going). So, about half hour later, there I was at Laundry Bar. It turned out to be some sort of a mini bloggers gathering. We talked about everything under the sky...and covered basically the essentials....love, food, health and sex, in a general way. Lemongrass and Nigel left earlier, leaving the rest of us to chat the night away. Check out Lemongrass and Nigel's blog for their take on that night. Especially so if you want to see a gorgeous pic of someone's six pack abs!

New friends made that night : -

Sze, of Jade(d) Poetry, is the envy of many. A Malaysian working in Bangkok at the moment for about two months, she is well traveled and actually stays in Budapest, Hungary. That night, we shared a bit with the guys on what women want! ;o) Sze mentioned to me that she doesn't really put pics of herself on her blog, so I shall refrain from posting her pics (but somehow, her pic is on the other blogs. Hee hee...).

Listening attentively apart from UnkaLeong, were (R to L) : Mervyn (charming young guy, the youngest around), Hengster (one who eats anything and everything with no questions asked!) and CatsnDogs (hard to imagine him calling himself AP - Attitude Problem as he was truly a gentleman).
Image00045
We called it a night around 12 plus midnight and said our goodbyes. We had a blast and as we left, we said that we must get together again for more laughter!

The next day, UnkaLeong and I chatted online for awhile and for certain reasons, decided to meet up again with Nigel, Teckiee and myself for dinner. We ended up in Ang Kee, Cheow Yang and it turned out to be the first time for the three of them.
blurred
After the usual food dish photo taking session, they got a taste of some good tasty food from Ang Kee; La La Mee Hoon (Vermicelli with Clams), Lai Yau Har Ko (Butter Mantis Prawn), Homemade Steam Tofu with Egg and a vege dish. I guess they will be blogging about it at some point in time. Here's a previous post of mine on Ang Kee with pics of some of the dishes.

Since Nigel came bearing a box of Just Heavenly Pleasures (JHP) goodies, we adjourned to Nasi Kayu a few shoplots away for drinks and JHP desserts after we left Ang Kee. Teckiee's big round eyes lit up at the thought of being able to order Roti Tissue and we had an additional star on the table. Just look at the height of the Roti Tissue! Oh, we made another new friend, Adrian (pictured below), a friend of Nigel's who just so happened to be there. He had his first experience of seeing floggers at work and he was very amused.
Image00045
UnkaLeong had asked Precious Pea along earlier, but she couldn't join us for dinner as she had dinner waiting at home. When she heard that Nigel had brought some goodies, she was ecstatic and she arrived half an hour later to meet up with us.
Image00033
JHP's goodies
Image00043
I have decided to be a more responsible citizen and not cause a frenzy amongst women (and men alike!) and post a photo of UnkaLeong taking a bite, rather than one of his abs! Ha ha ha.....Now, now, I know some of you out there wish you were the profiterole! LOL...
Image00054
The REAL profiterole :o)

We talked about everything again while enjoying the yummylicious goodies, punctuated with Nigel's thunderous laughter most of the time! LOL....We ate, drank, talked and laughed the night away which ended memorably for Teckiee, Precious Pea and I. What? Let's just say, it's a touchy subject ;o)

Bonjuk, Desa Sri Hartamas

(NO LONGER IN OPERATION)

Hardly recovering from our Saturday outing (from all that laughter and food), I received an sms from Lyrical Lemongrass this evening asking, "Bonjuk tonight? Can?". Boo_licious had told us about this 1 month old place and its delicious Korean dishes ;o). So, before anyone could finish saying "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", Precious Pea was already at my place to pick me up for dinner at Bonjuk. Boo_licious, Lyrical Lemongrass and the two of us arrived almost at the same time for a rather late dinner (look at the clock).

Andrew, the friendly young Korean guy who runs the place, greeted us warmly and proceeded to explain some of Bonjuk's dishes. Bonjuk is basically traditional Korean porridge and as their website says, "Porridge with a soul". The food is cooked only when ordered, hence fresh. As quality is ensured, this is probably one of the reason why the prices here are higher as compared to other Korean food.
The interior; the place is clean and pleasant

Boo_licious's medium order of Octopus and Kimchi Porridge (RM12.95) - It tasted very much like the usual Kimchi Chigae (Kimchi Soup) that I usually drink; except for the fact that this is porridge. Nice and spicy.
Lyrical Lemongrass's medium order of Seafood Combo (RM14.95); a mixture of squid, shrimp, mussels, clams, and octopus was simple and tasted very homecooked indeed.
My Beef & Bulgogi Bibimbob (RM24.95)with a mixture of mushrooms (which I love), vegetables and beef. The beef portion wasn't a lot though, it was kinda "lost" after I mixed them up together with the rice. The mixture of sauces and the ingredients however made this bibimbob taste great! I was expecting it to be served in a hot stone bowl but I was told that one can request for it as it's served in a normal bowl as per the menu.
Precious Pea's Spicy Octopus Bibimbop in Hot Stone Bowl (RM21.95). She liked it a lot and was first to finish her meal! We had to take photos of her food as quickly as we can as she had to mix it up so as to not eat burnt rice!

Service was good and attentive; with the staff ensuring that our glasses of plain water were filled at all times. During dinner itself, they brought out a tray several times; filled with small saucers of chilli, kimchi and other appetizers, they asked us to help ourselves to them. Andrew then came out with a treat for us; Korean pancake.
It didn't have the usual floury texture and was surprisingly light whilst soft though it was slightly thicker than the usual Korean Pancakes that I have eaten. Dipped into the sesame seed soy sauce, it was nice. We tried eating it with kimchi for a spicier version and it was just as good.

I guess I'll be receiving more smses in the future asking, "Bonjuk tonight?" after our enjoyable meal there. The four of us can't go on meeting like this.....LOL! Looks like we have started our own mini makan gang...

Read SooYin's review on Bonjuk; for location and details of Bonjuk, check out the link HERE.
