Charismatic Canada - Montreal Part 10

We were in Montreal during the Les FrancoFolies De Montreal, an annual music festival that usually runs late July till early August.

Les FrancoFolies de Montreal

It has hundreds of performers staging shows throughout the day/night in the vicinity of Centre-Ville.  Most of the shows are free while some bigger names would require tickets. Here are some of the sights in Montreal along with some shots of the festival.

Coconut Grove, Dessert Corner @ Bandar Utama

I had tried to do a web search on Coconut Grove but found no info except for an entry on Foursquare and another review from SC (Food4Thot).  This place has been in existence to my knowledge for about two years or so. Situated in the quiet Oasis Business Centre, I've always wanted to make a stop here whenever I pass by and it wasn't until sometime late last year that I finally did. It's now one of my fave places for desserts.

Coconut Grove - Signature Coconut Shake

They do desserts like a variety of Coconut Jelly.  However, my fave order during my four visits so far to this place is the their Signature Coconut Shake (RM7.50), an Ice Blended Coconut Milk drink with bits of Coconut Jelly and Q Jelly.  It's actually quite a refreshing drink and is a tad too much for one to drink it all up as it's served in a glass jup (hahaha...I came up with that word - it's a cross between a cup and a jug!).  I would say that it's good for two or even three folks!

They also serve steam chocolate cake with ice cream! I've been eyeing that but never got round to trying it out yet.  They have tong sui on the menu; Red Bean on Monday & Wednesday, Snow Fungus Longan on Wednesday, Mak Chuk on Thursday & Saturday, Hak Loh Mai/Black Glutinous Rice on Friday & Sunday, Tong Kuah Longan daily except Wednesday.  Just in case you also want to grab a bite of food rather than just desserts, you can tuck into packet(s) of Nasi Lemak (RM2.00) and/or Mee Siam too along with some local kuihs.

It's a pretty quiet place, which makes it a nice place to chill while grabbing a light bite and having that refreshing Coconut Shake.  I don't think many know of this place, which is a shame...this little dessert place deserves some attention.  Go check it out!

THANK GOODNESS IT'S FRIDAY!
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Restaurant Basilic, Montreal - Pan Asian Goodness

Canada continues ...

We moved on to Montreal and stayed at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel for the next 2 nights.

Hunger struck! As usual :o). Our first meal in Montreal was at Restaurant Basilic; a "pan-asian" restaurant (as they call themselves) in Chinatown which has a rather mixed menu (there's Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese!) with reasonable prices.  We ordered a mixture of some Vietnamese and Thai items and we enjoyed the fare here, so much so we actually dropped by again on the second day.  So, check Restaurant Basilic out if you ever in Montreal.

Hu tieu Kho Nam Vang (Dry noodles with shrimp and pork)
Hu Tieu Kho Name Vang $7.95 (Dry noodles with Shrimp & Pork).  Lovely springy noodles and the shrimps were fresh.  It's served with a bowl of soup on the side.
