Sakura Pork @ Spring Golden Restaurant, Shah Alam

(Non-Halal Post)

Here's Part 2 of Spring Golden Restaurant as I mentioned last Monday. After the lunch I had last week at Spring Golden, I looked forward to trying out the Sakura Pork variety. Kei Kei called me up to let me know that her brother could prepare it over the weekend and without hesitation, I told her that I'll be there with my family for lunch. So came Sunday, off we went to Glenmarie and Precious Pea was also there with her family (we sat right next to each other and talked about...what else...food! Hahaha...).
Lunch
Lonely rice waiting for meat :o)
Roast Taiwan Style Sausages
First on the table - Taiwan Style Roast Sausages. Since men (and women) cannot live on char siew with rice alone, we ordered a plate of this along with some wantans and a plate of vegetables. My sis-in-law was disappointed as she was expecting roast sausages with duck liver and not this variety. Sliced rather thinly (I would have preferred a thicker cut for more oomph!), the meat was finely processed and didn't contain much fats. We liked it but it's only a small role co-star and all attention were diverted elsewhere when the main star appeared shortly after at our table ;o)
Lunch 2
Three little piggies The main star posing ala vogue style for my camera. LOL!
BBQ Sakura Pork
The BBQ Sakura Pork in all its glory - Wonderful tasty pieces. Those that were lean were still very tender to bite whereas those with fats melted away in our mouth. So, what is Sakura Pork? Boolicious wrote this in my comment box earlier, "Sakura pork is a type of pig which is fed lactobacilius, kinda like a free range pig". That explains it, but I guess what mattered more to us hungry folks as that time was how good was Sakura Pork going to be. My whole family enjoyed this and my mom (being all moms...) gave her seal of approval and said that it was nice. You see, I would take my mom out for meals that I find tasty and when I ask her how's the food, she would usually say "Okaylah". Hahaha...
Roast Chicken
Sitting next to Precious Pea, I was asked to try a piece of the Roast Chicken that Mr P ordered. I had a small piece and found it quite tender but a tad salty for me. I guess it's best eaten with rice.

I would still say the best dish Spring Golden Restaurant has is the BBQ Pork - Char Siew, be it the normal "crystal" version or the Sakura Pork variety. My nephews enjoyed the normal version as it's has a more crispy bite to it but though tender, we all agreed the Sakura Pork (while it's less crispy on the outside) was more tender of the two. So take your pick, but be sure to call ahead and reserve as the BBQ Pork sells out fast since it's their best seller.

We didn't sit next to each other la..it was back-to-back!

Yeah..apart from the glorious Char Siu, the rest are forgettable. Like your sis-in-law...i was expecting the sausage with liver too. But like you said..it would be better if it's chunky instead of so finely sliced.

hazza : It's the marinade...not burnt. Though I love to eat the unhealthy burnt part :)

Kenny: Hahaha...seems like they did!

Joe : Wah, char siew sandwich. Mmm...you could be on to something here!

Christine : Go try but you fly off!

Yammylicious : Hey, haven't seen you for a while. You have been a sleeping beauty, is it??? hehehe...

Boo : Well, Sakura Prok is available if given enough notice (but also subject to availability of supply ) but eating the normal char siew also have to reserve first.

Jason : hahaha...you can plan. I won't be eating char siew for awhile! Had gone way over my quota last month. This month must skip!

Monkee : Where are you at right now? :o)

Icook4fun: Oh, the other char siew place that floggers blogged on is Famous Seremban Favourites, different from this...thanks for the link.

Precious Pea : Haha...so farnee, I bet my family and your family (apart from Mr P) must have been amused when you insisted I try the roast chicken.

Vkeong : But eaten with rice should be just nice.

Lee Ping : hahaha....Yes, it absolutely was!

Nic : I also dunno what is wmw style. Hahaha...see ya this Saturday.

Tummythoz : Shhhh....let's not alert them. Hahaha...

wmw said...

j2kfm : Sure thing, let me know when you are in town. But please don't call me Queen of Char Siew leh. Hehehe

Wonda : Mmmm...now that you have mentioned it...maybe that's why it's called Sakura cos of the pinkish shade!

Sam : I prefer Spring Golden to Meng Kee's in Glenmarie. Whereas, Famous Seremban Favourites Char Siew reigns in Sunway Mas area.

C-rex : Just let me know!

SC : Yes, more tender but FSF has tender cuts too(on the sweeter side) but pretty limited too. Go early and ask Bill about it!

BBO : You can't go wrong with that choice for sure :o)

beachlover: Ooooh, the char siew wins!

Ling : Hahaha...not only looks but tastes delicious too.

MP : Hahaha...didn't think of it that way when I wrote that.

zel

i would like to ask whether this place is suitable to conduct an event such as annual dinner with capacity of 100 peoples?...tq

wmw said...

Hi Zel : This place isn't big enough and is just a simple shop, definitely not suitable. Heard the shop has changed hands too....
